GooSync discontinues free version

GooSync

GooSync, the service for syncing of Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar (and other PIM data from the cloud) with your mobile calendar, will no longer be available in a free version. The reason seems the tough economic environment and the official line goes like this: “it has become increasingly more difficult to continue this high level of service to both Premium and Free users.” Hence, free users will have to pay something in order to keep using the service. But it’s really not much what GooSync is asking – one-year Premium subscription costs £19.95, two-year – £29.95 and a lifetime option is available for £39.95. Plus, to additionally sweeten the deal and to make transition smoother, the company has made available a new option called GooSync Lite, which costs only £5.99 per year.

In the same release, GooSync says the version 2.1 is ready for the release, meaning it will hit a Premium account near you in no time.

J2ME-based GCal brings Google Calendar to feature phones

Like Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar but don’t have a smartphone? You may want to try out GCal, a new, free Java ME application, which allow you to manage your Google Calendar appointments from your mobile phone, no matter where you happen to be.

Although it’s still in an alpha stage, the app allows users to filter their data, create new events, search for events and even view events on a map! Not bad for an early release, not bad at all.

Download is available from here, and you can read the “official blog post” from here. While there, feel free to drop your two cents about the features you want to see in the future releases. I’m sure there are many other users who need something similar functions as you do.

Alternatively, you may want to simply sync data from Google Calendar with your built-in PIM app using GooSync. It’s your call.

10 goosync Deal: GooSync offers one time premium subscription for 34.95 GBP! *UPDATE*

If you rely on Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar for managing your time, you’ve certainly heard of GooSync. Basically, they offer an easy to use service that makes your Google Calendar sync with your mobile phone’s calendar app. In addition, they’ve recently added Tasks and Contacts allowing users to keep more than just calendar entries in sync — this is done over-the-air, without any desktop application (in most cases, at least).

Best of all their service is available for free, but there are some extra features that are reserved for premium users, only. If you consider yourself to be an advanced user of Google’s services, you’ll certainly want these as well and I can’t advise enough to push the trigger and jump on the “premium” bandwagon. Now is the best moment to do as GooSync is offering one-time premium subscription for just 34.95 GBP!!! The offer ends on December 25th, so you may wanna be quick with this. Here’s a link from where you can get all the details…

If that counts, I’m a big fan of GooSync and can hardly imaging NOT using it.

GooSync releases Google gadgets for contact and task management

02 goosync GooSync releases Google gadgets for contact and task management

If you’re relying on to keep you calendar in sync with GCal, you may want to use their service for contact and task synchronization as well. Until now, in order to manage your contacts and tasks, you needed to login to their website and modify task and calendar entries from there. Luckily, GooSync is a smart company, which listens to its customers, hence they’ve released two Google (NSDQ: GOOG) gadgets to allow GooSync Premium users to access their tasks and contacts without ever going to GooSync. All you have to do is add two gadgets to your iGoogle page and take it from there. It’s that easy and we love it. At least I do, as I rely heavily on Google services in my daily routine.

Here are two links to GooSync’s Google gadgets:

GooSync adds multiple device support

GooSync

GooSync, the great service that we’ve covered in the past which allows users to sync their Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar data with a mobile phone, has recently announced a new feature – multi-device syncing.

Available with GooSync Premium Subscription only, the new feature offers the ability to add up to 4 devices to a single GooSync account. Now you will be able to get all of your devices and other PIM repositories synchronized to your Google or GooSync data with a single account. Or to put it in other words — it’s great news for all of us who regularly rely on more than a single handset…

For more detailed information please visit this page at GooSync’s website.

GooSync goes live with Google Contacts synchronization

GooSync

Last month when we talked about GooSync adding Tasks support to its service, we also said they’ll be rolling out the Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Contacts support soon. That just happened, and now aside from syncing your appointments and tasks, you can also keep your mobile contacts fresh and updated all the time.

Syncing is fully bi-directional, meaning that your contact information can be updated either from a mobile phone or from GMail. What’s left is to let GooSync do its magic.

In order to sync your mobile contacts with GMail, you will need the GooSync Premium account, though. If you’re a GMail junkie like me, you know that’s well worth the price. So, stop wasting time and click the “Upgrade” button, if you still haven’t. You won’t regret, I promise.

More information is available on GooSync’s website.

GooSync adds tasks support!

GooSync

I’m sure many of Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar fans have waited this for so long. Now, thanks to the latest GooSync update, you can synchronize your GCal appointments alongside tasks. Unfortunately, I’m not talking about Google Tasks as such service still waits to be launched. Rather, GooSync decided to prepare their own web-based service which allows users to input tasks only to later synchronize them with their mobile phones.

Just like it’s the case with the GCal appointments, the two-way syncing is also supported with GooSync Tasks, and so is the backup and restore functionality.

Interested? Sure you are. GooSync is running the special offer which ends on April 30. Instead of paying the regular price of 19.95 GBP (around $40.00), you can grab their premium membership for 14.95 GBP (about $30) per year.

Finally, before I let you go, you’ll be glad to know GooSync is working to further enhance its service to allow GMail Contacts syncing. Expected release date is somewhere between the end of April and beginning of May 2008.

CalSync60 helps you sync Google Calendar with your Symbian S60 smartphone

With so many people using Google (NSDQ: GOOG) web services these days, it doesn’t surprise to see a growing number of mobile apps designed to help users take pieces of the “G experience” with them.

CalSync60That being said, we’ve recently spotted a free application called CalSync60, which allows Symbian S60 device owners to sync their phones with their Google Calendar.

Sure, you can still use GooSync (which I personally use) or some of the Java ME based solutions (GCalSync) we’ve seen in the past. This is yet another, possibly “more native” way to do the same thing. It’s quite easy to use – open the app, set your Google username and password, and you’re ready to go.

There is a downside though. CalSync60 is still in beta and it is recommended to backup calender before use. In addition, some calendar features like recurring events are not supported at this stage. However, the next release is scheduled for mid-May when CalSync60 should be ready for prime time. Or at least very close to that point… In the meantime, if you want to give CalSync60 a try, here’s the direct download link.

GooSync gets jiggy with Apple iPhone; Allows syncing between Google Calendar and iPhone Calendar

Remember GooSync, the service that allows you to sync the data from Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar with your phone’s calendar? You certainly do — we’ve already covered them in a couple of posts earlier this year.

GooSync gets jiggy with Apple iPhone

Now they’ve announced that their service — used by more than 100,000 people worldwide — is supporting the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone. Yap, that means you’ll be able to access your GCal entries right from the beautiful interface of the built-in Calendar application on your iPhone.

I’m still not sure how this all works, but being the GooSync user for more than a year, I’ve learned to trust them. So go ahead, point your browser to GooSync’s website and take it from there…

GooSync adds Contacts support

Remember GooSync, the service we’ve already talked about before which allows you to synchronize your Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Calendar with a mobile phone or PDA? Well, they’ve just updated the software and Contacts are now part of the equation.

GooSync adds Contact support

Unfortunately, the new feature is only available to the premium account holders, but if you still haven’t – maybe it’s time to upgrade now. Afterwards you’ll be able to manage Contacts from your GooSync Premium account, sync them with your device, backup and restore, and also import/export between GooSync Contacts and Google Contacts or Outlook. Nice!
