Avatron Software, the same company that produced Air Display HD for iPad, has another interesting application. Called Air Sharing, this app works on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad (special version), allowing users to wirelessly transfer virtually any file format — including Microsoft Office docs, PDFs and image files — to their device(s) and view, print and send files via email. Best of all, you don’t have to install anything on your computer to access your documents and images!
There are two flavors of the app – basic that works via WiFi only, and Pro version that adds 3G data to the mix along with some other cool features, including:
- Enhanced PDF functionality, including support for encrypted PDFs, the ability to navigate table of contents, and a search feature.
- Advanced file operations including the ability to move, copy and paste files between folders and servers, rename files and add new folders.
- Ability to print most kinds of documents from your iPhone or iPad over any Mac or Linux shared printer.
- Email function to send stored files directly from your iDevice.
- Remote access to remote files servers, including WebDAV servers, FTP sites, e-mail servers, desktop computers and SSH servers.
- Zip and unzip archiving functions, including browsing and support for password protection.
iPad version, Air Sharing HD, works via the dock connector with (I’m guessing) 3G connectivity set to be included in the updated version shortly…
