Rumor: Samsung prepping 6.3″ Galaxy Note III for 2013 launch

The times, they are a’changin’; the phones, they are a’growin’. Or so it goes with the smartphone/tablet hybrid market. Global Nexus 7 Shipments to top 1 million in December, 2-3 million Nexus 7s in Q4

According to perennial industry favorite Digitimes, unit sales of the Google Nexus 7 tablet will top 1 million in December, indicating continued growth for Google’s budget 7″ slate. Previous reports of Nexus 7 sales pegged between 500,000 and 900,000 units per month, with November being the best-selling month to date for Google’s tablet. Redbox Instant beta launching this month on iOS and Android

Back in February, Redbox and Verizon announced that they were teaming up on a streaming movie service to compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Hulu. Samsung Ativ S launching at Canada’s Bell on December 14th, according to leak

Samsung’s Ativ S, the fifth member of the Windows Phone 8 family, will reportedly launch on Bell in Canada as early as Friday, according to a document leaked to MobileSyrup. The Ativ S joins the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, and HTC’s Windows Phone 8X and 8S as the fifth Windows Phone 8 device to go on sale worldwide, and is the first offered by Samsung. Back in September, Google purchased Nik Software, makers of the popular Snapseed application for iOS. Google chairman finds it ‘extremely curious’ that Apple hasn’t sued Google

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt discussed the current state of patent litigation between Apple and Google’s partners. Demand for Surface Tablet “disappointing” as tablet market heats up

Bloomberg is reporting troubling times for Windows tablets this holiday season. According to one industry analyst, early demand for Microsoft Surface, the company’s self-built Windows RT tablet, has been disappointing, leading Microsoft to allegedly reduce the number of Surface RT units ordered from its distributors. The same can be said of alternative Windows-based tablets, with the short list of tablets seeing limited availability across the country.
