Ever since Street Fighter IV made its way to the iOS platform, fighting games have been continuing to make their way as Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, and even classic Street Fighter II have been released giving fighting fans who are on-the-go their fix. Today, Capcom has released what is considered one of the greatest fighting games of all time, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, onto the iOS platform.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 brings everything you love from the original game right onto your iOS device. All 56 characters from the original game have made it as well as all of the game’s stages, sights and sounds have been delivered. Not all characters are unlocked when you first play MvC2 as you’ll need to earn points through playing the game in order to purchase characters through a number of modes including Arcade Mode, local Vs Mode, and Training Mode.

Seeing as how this game requires a ton of inputs, Capcom has introduced a new “Flick Button” system that allows players to not only tap on a button in order to execute a command, but you can also flick the button in a particular direction to execute another command. For example, tapping on the team button will call in your teammate to perform an attack. If you flick the team button in a certain direction, you’ll be able to issue another command like tagging your teammate in to fight. The only trick is learning which swipe direction issues what command as I found myself flicking like a madman in order for something to happen.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 retails for $4.99, but Capcom is slashing that price in half to $2.99 from now until May 6th. If you’re a fan of MvC 2, then you’re definitely going to want to check out the iOS version as it’s probably the closest you’ll get to having the full game in your pocket for a super low price.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that SEGA announced it would be restructuring its company to publish digital content. Even though its retail publishing side would be severely cut to only Sonic, Total War, and Aliens games, its digital publishing side would the company’s main focus. I said in my original news article this could potentially be good news for mobile gamers, and I was right as SEGA has just released Total War Battles: Shogun.

If you’re familiar with the PC Total War games, then you’ll know exactly what to expect in Total War Battles: Shogun. The game is a re-imagining of Total War and has been designed specifically for mobile devices and multi-touch interfaces. Players will assume the control of a young samurai who is seeking revenge for the death of his father. His adventure will take players on a journey across medieval Japan, delivering over 15 hours of gameplay.

You’ll play across 27 core missions as you construct your bases, train and build your army of Samurais, Warrior Monks, and Ninja to march them towards your enemy’s forces to complete a number of objectives. Aside from the 27 missions, you’ll also be able to take on 18 challenging side-quests that offer additional experience which can be used to upgrade buildings and units.

Once you feel you’ve got a grasp of Total Wars: Shogun, you can then invite your clueless friends and family to a game through Shogun’s local multiplayer mode. The game scales its appearance in order for both players to gain an equal advantage over their troops and the enemy’s. The game performs exceptionally well on the new iPad thanks to its Retina Display support.

I’ve been playing Total War Battles: Shogun since yesterday and I’m really impressed so far with how The Creative Assembly re-imagined this game for mobile devices. The gameplay offers a nice mix of RTS with micro-managing and will certainly keep both fans of the series and newcomers interested from start to finish. I just with there was an online multiplayer mode instead of local. Hopefully an online mode is planned for a future update.

Shark Dash tells the old tale of a happy-go-lucky bath toy named Sharky who is having a blast in the bathtub with his fellow shark friends. Then, out of nowhere, some jerk rubber duckies come down and kidnap Sharky’s girlfriend. Seeing as Sharky needs someone to cook, clean, and give him a fin massage every night, he and his other shark buddies set out to rescue her.

The game is a puzzle platformer where you guide Sharky and his friends through 96 levels of puzzles that are set across four different worlds, but really they’re just different tubs. Shark Dash rewards players with gold stars for completing puzzles with all ducks and coins within a specific amount of shots, which I certainly found to be quite a challenge to complete. The coins you collect in each level can then be used in the game’s shop to purchase elixirs that can undo one move at a time.

If you’re looking for a simple yet challenging puzzle platformer game that not only you, but your kids can also enjoy, then I can’t think of a better way to spend your $.99 than by buying Shark Dash.

They’ve been churning out fantastic team-based experiences for as long as I can remember, and now the legendary developer is setting its sights on mobile platforms for their next game, RAD Soldiers.

RAD Soldiers has players assembling their unique squad of collectible mercenaries through London after the city has been evacuated due to mysterious McGuffin Rockets landing in various locations. Players will combat either offline AI opponents or friends through online multiplayer to gain control of the rockets, thus reaping their mysterious rewards. Your squad’s customizable as you can change their weapons, outfits and abilities and as you battle, you’ll earn experience for your soldiers and squad commanders, which can be used to unlock new abilities.

The game will first be exclusive to the iOS platform when its released this June, but other mobile platforms will receive their own version of RAD Soldiers, the obvious being Android. RAD Soldiers will be completely free-to-play and will use coins to unlock new soldiers, customization options, and equipment. The game’s publisher, WarChest, promises RAD Soldiers will receive a constant stream of updates that include new maps, soldiers, weapons, and abilities. As more mobile platforms are supported, players will have the ability to take on more challengers than before as RAD Soldiers will be cross-platform compatible.

If you’re a fan of side-scrolling racing games similar to Ubisoft’s Trials Revolution, which coincidentally released on XBLA today, then you might have heard of a game called Joe Danger. Joe Danger was originally released exclusively on the Playstation Network, but after a few months, found its way to the Xbox Live Arcade. Now, it looks like Joe Danger will be making another death-defying leap onto both the iOS & Android platforms.

During an interview with Gamasutra, Hello co-founder Sean Murray let the cat out of the bag as he mentioned the iOS and Android versions of Joe Danger won’t be a simple port of the original games. Instead, the game will be platform specific and will use gesture-based controls such as swiping the screen to make Joe wheelie, nudging him in the air to affect his gravity, or flicking barriers out of Joe’s way making the experience on touchscreen devices much easier to interact with.

I certainly enjoyed my time with both versions of Joe Danger as it offered a quirky story and some great visuals to an already addictive game type. Hopefully Hello will also think about allowing iOS & Android gamers to create their own tracks and sharing their creations with one another, similar to the experience the console versions of Joe Danger offered.

I personally rather enjoyed my experience, but one thing I felt was lacking in my review was a multiplayer component. It looks like Gameloft has finally filled in that missing piece as Dungeon Hunter 3 now has multiplayer.

The multiplayer update for Dungeon Hunter 3 allows up to four players join together in co-operative battle, or take on each other in PvP combat. Not only that, but the 1.1.1 update also contains a number of bug fixes and adjustments that include a new leaderboard optimization, a fix to key regeneration, and a number of other bug fixes.

Are you a hardcore FPS gamer who has been enjoying the Call of Duty Elite app, but wish there was something on the market for Battlefield 3? EA has answered yours and many other BF3 fans’ prayers as they’ve just released an official EA Battlelog app for the iPhone.

The Battlelog system in Battlefield 3 has kept players connected with their friends’progress through the game, but up until now was only accessible through an in-game stream as well as via a computer. Now that EA Battlelog has been released, you can stay connected with BF3′s Battlelog and keep up with your friends’ progress, comment on their posts, see which friends are playing on what server and receive updates from the game’s developers.

That’s not all as Battlelog also shows your own progress to see your performance on the battlefield, check enemy tags you’ve collected, and see what you’ll be unlocking next time you fire up Battlefield 3. The app also includes leaderboards that compares your standing among your friends as well as everyone else around the world.

If you eat, sleep, and breathe Battlefield 3, then you’re going to want to keep tabs on your experience while you’re on the go with the EA Battlelog app.

The long-awaited ClashMob update for Infinity Blade II has finally gone live today, bringing with it the ability to team up with hundreds of thousands of players worldwide to help complete dynamic challenges on a grand scale. Players will be able to recruit their friends to their own “Mob” to receive special incentives, new achievements, and special rewards. Your ClashMob progress can also be posted via Facebook and Twitter.

The ClashMob update introduces new characters to fight as well as new weapons, rings, and gems and a new Gem Forge feature that allows players to craft their own custom gems to be equipped into their weapons and armor.

Today’s update should also be a special treat for new iPad owners as Epic Games has also enhanced the graphics of the iPad version of Infinity Blade II to support the new iPad’s retina display.

After playing around with the ClashMob feature, I find the “MyMob” area to be a bit lacking as I can only currently invite Facebook friends as long as we’re connected to each other. It would be great to invite people on Twitter or Game Center to be a part of my mob seeing as not everyone I know has a Facebook profile. Seeing as this is the initial launch of ClashMob, there’s certainly room for improvement and hopefully Epic will offer more options to add people to their mob without needing Facebook to be the middle-man.

If you have yet to pick up Infinity Blade II, Epic has dropped the price down from $6.99 to $4.99 to celebrate today’s ClashMob update.

Infinity Blade II (<del>$6.99</del> $4.99 Universal)

Rockstar Games announced late last year they were working on a mobile version of Max Payne to be released some time in March 2012. March 2012 came and went, but a couple of days ago it was revealed that Max Payne would be released on April 12th. Well, April 12th is here and Max Payne has officially been made available for all iOS devices from the iPhone 3GS to iPhone 4s and all iPads.

Max Payne Mobile brings the critically acclaimed third-person shooter to the digital age as the game has been completely optimized for iOS devices with HD graphics, high-res textures, user-customizable controls and the ability to connect to Rockstar’s Social Club network. The game can be played through three levels of difficulty, and a new mode called “New York Minute” which challenges players to complete each level within a certain time limit. There’s also an area to learn about Max Payne 3, which when you select it, takes you right to the Max Payne 3 website.

Just like with Grand Theft Auto III‘s release on mobile devices, players need to keep in mind this was a game originally published on a console in the late 90s – early 2000s. Rockstar did a great job updating its graphics to be more HD, but don’t expect a complete makeover, especially with Max Payne’s iconic “What’s that smell?” facial expression. The game’s action and storyline will certainly keep you entertained from start to finish and will also get you ready for when Max Payne 3 is released in May.

But wait – I didn’t even get to the best part yet. If you own a new iPad, Max Payne Mobile takes full advantage of its retina display and the game is universal, although I haven’t tested if the game has cross-platform save support, which I’m doubting at this point. Even better is the fact that the game is available right now for the insane price of $2.99. I KNOW you have $3 in change in your pocket, so throw it at your iOS device and buy this game ASAP.

Max Payne Mobile ($2.99 Universal)

Have you been playing games on your iOS or Windows Phone 7 device and wish your games were just a bit more ‘splodier? I know I do and that’s why I was excited to hear one of my favorite Xbox Live Arcade games, Ms. Splosion Man, is making its way to both iOS & WP7 platforms this Summer.

Ms. Splosion Man is a follow-up game to developer Twisted Pixel’s hit game, Splosion Man. The game takes place directly after the events of Splosion Man as the scientists of Big Science have successfully captured Splosion Man. As the scientists celebrated, they accidentally created Ms. Splosion Man, who takes it upon herself to go absolutely nuts through the Big Science facility and beyond.

The iOS and WP7 version of Ms. Splosion Man won’t be a simple port of the game. Instead, the developers will be offering a unique experience built specifically for iOS & WP7 devices. The game will deliver familiar content, but with a set of new features, objectives, and gameplay modes. Twisted Pixel pointed out they’d like to take full advantage of the iOS hardware for that version of the game and are already planning to deliver post-launch content through regular updates.

Today’s news is just another confirmation that Microsoft is starting to embrace the iOS platform, as well as show continued support for their WP7 platform. I’m curious to see if both iOS & WP7 versions of Ms. Splosion Man will be released at the same time, or if Microsoft will hold back the iOS version in order to promote the game’s limited exclusivity on the WP7 platform. Either way, this is certainly a game that will play extremely well on mobile devices and should be on everyone’s radar.
