Contact UsDusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.
Cricket is not only adding the Samsung Galaxy S4 to its portfolio, but also two other Android smartphones made by the Korean company – Galaxy Admire 2 and Galaxy Discover. The former is already available through US Cellular which is selling it under the name of Galaxy Axiom. It’s an Android 4.1 device with a 4-inch WVGA screen, dual-core processor, LTE connectivity and 5-megapixel camera on the back. As for the Galaxy Discover, we’re talking about an entry-level smartphone that sports a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 3-megapixel camera, while Android 4.0 … Read more
Samsung has officially announced that its Galaxy S4 has reached the 10 million units sold milestone, adding that the phone is estimated to be selling at a rate of four units per second. Yup, it sets a new record for the Korean company, generating sales quicker than any of its predecessors. In comparison, sales of the GALAXY S III reached the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch in 2012, while the GALAXY S II took five months and the GALAXY S seven months to reach the same milestone. But … Read more
HTC announced a new mid-range device, Desire 600, which promises to offer quite a bang for the buck. Unfortunately, price was not announced (all we have is “affordable price tag”) but we do have the full specs sheet: it will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, dual-SIM capability, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing one and 8GB of internal storage (no microSD card slot?). In addition, there’s HTC BoomSound, which includes dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers as well as studio-quality sound with Beats … Read more
While I like the new BlackBerry Z10, I found it have a too thick bezel around the display. In fact, at one time I had it home alongside the Sony Xperia T and found Sony’s phone only slightly bigger, despite having a 0.35-inch larger screen (4.55 vs 4.2 inches). That made me wonder – couldn’t RIM made the same device with a bigger screen? When you look at the Z10 you can’t but wonder whether that way-too-thick bezel was needed in the first place. Sure enough, the BlackBerry 10′s gesture … Read more
The new BlackBerry Q5 could easily prove as the company’s most popular smartphone, helping the Canadian company reach customer segments which is now served by other vendors. When BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins officially announced the Q5, it failed to share its specs sheet. Later on, we’ve learned that it comes with a slower-than-Q10′s 1.2GHz dual-core processor (most likely also made by Qualcomm), 2GB of RAM, 3.1-inch 720×720 pixels screen, 5MP camera with flash on the back, 2MP front-facing camera and 8GB of internal memory. And while we still don’t know … Read more
Marvell is joining the “quad-core game” with a mass-market product that will compete in the mid-to-high end of the market. Its new PXA1088 LTE is touted as the industry’s first mass market quad-core 5-mode Category 4 LTE single-chip solution supporting LTE TDD and FDD, WCDMA (HSPA+), TD-SCDMA and EDGE connectivity options. Samsung Galaxy Win is coming to India. However, interested folks won’t be able to buy it under that name; rather the Korean company renamed it to Galaxy Grand Quattro. We’re not sure why the name change was needed but what do we know. Anyway, Samsung suggests MSRP of Rs. 17,290 (about $312) though some retailers are offering it for less – around Rs. 16,000 ($289). Specs wise, the Galaxy Win/Grand Quattro comes with a 4.7-inch WVGA screen, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, 8GB of internal memory, 2,000mAh … Read more
So, the Chinese won’t be the only one getting the HTC One variant with a microSD card slot. Japan’s KDDI announced a similar device calling it HTC J One (model number HTL22) that also comes with support for microSD cards (of up to 64GB). Rest of the phone’s hardware is pretty much unchanged though we guess there are some tweaks here in there to accommodate for the ever-demanding Japanese mobile market. For instance, there’s the Infrared port on the HTC J One, since that thing is apparently a nice-to-have feature … Read more
