Looking for a protective and unique case for your shiny new iPad 2? If you are, I received a note from our friends at Saddleback Leather, and what they have in-store for you may be right up your alley. Saddleback has just introduced their new iPad 2 case. It’s made from very thick, full-grain boot leather… and I can attest from experience (they sent me one of their original sleeves for the iPad), the leather they use is top-notch, and it DOES protect your ‘magical’ device quite well. In addition … Read more
While doing some random iPhone 4 accessory shopping this morning, I came across a couple of real gems from… you guessed it… Etsy. The decals I stumbled upon are for the retro gamers out there, and they’re guaranteed to turn a few heads. The first decal reproduces the look of the original NES controller. The classic directional pad on the left, the A and B buttons on the right, and select/start in the middle. I grew up with this controller (not sure if that’s sad or not), so I’m thinking … Read more
A quick weekend note here for all of the Canadian mobile junkies out there. Yesterday, Rogers announced that the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and Xperia PLAY are both available for pre-order. Cool beans for not only for gamers, but for Sony Ericsson and Android fans as well. Both devices pack a pretty good feature set… with the PLAY featuring quite a unique form-factor, sure to put a smile on many a gamers face. The Xperia arc packs Android 2.3, a 4.2″ (854 x 480) display, 8.1 MP camera with 2.46x … Read more
A quick note from TELUS this morning alerted us to a new device in their lineup… namely, the Motorola Defy. Available now from $79.99, the Defy packs Motorola’s MOTOBLUR to help sync, stream and backup all of your filters and messages. It’s also a ruggedized device, and comes with a 3.7″ (480 x 854) scratch-resistant (Gorilla Glass) touchscreen. You’ll notice from the shot above that it provides edge-to-edge viewing, nice for pulling up photos and videos. Other key features include: Android 2.2 Corning Gorilla Glass impact and scratch resistant display … Read more
Our good friends at Rogers dropped us a note earlier today, letting us know that they’ve successfully expanded their network in Manitoba. Yes, folks from Winnipeg to Winnipegosis (hope somebody gets that joke) should enjoy higher speeds and improved performance. The network expansion means that good folks in places like Thompson, Flin Flon, and The Pas will be able to enjoy the high-speed network. Increased download speeds, increased signal strength and overall improvements to voice call quality are just a few of the things Manitobans should notice going forward. Darrell … Read more
Although I can’t consider myself a HUGE fan of The Joy of Tech, every once and awhile one of their comics will catch my eye, and make me laugh. Case in point today comes to us in the form of a new BlackBerry PlayBook comic. Check it out above. If you’re waiting patiently to get your hands on the new tablet from RIM, the countdown is on. My only question is, what are you going to do with the baby chicken inside the box? (personally, I think I’d rather have … Read more
When video games go big time and become part of pop culture, the result is often a horrible movie or two. Angry Birds is no exception. I haven’t exactly been keeping up-to-date on the latest cinematic hopes and dreams over at Rovio, but I know a movie is definitely something that ‘could’ hit us in the future (oh joy). With that in mind, check out the video below for some light-hearted, easy-goin’ Sunday viewing. If you’re a die-hard fan of the game, you’ll love it. If you hate the game, … Read more
To all of the Canadian readers out there, you may (or may not) recall my post on the Motorola XOOM WiFi ‘slated’ for an April launch in our fair country. The Android 3.0 ‘Honeycomb’ powered tablet has raised a few eyebrows, and with that, it’s on our radar. The latest bit of news regarding a launch date north-of-the-border is this… According to our good friends at MobileSyrup, the Motorola XOOM WiFi will make a debut off-contract for $599.99 on April 15th. You’ll be able to pick one up via TELUS, … Read more
Tiny Wings has become an almost daily play for me. The new iOS game from Andreas Illiger is not only super-easy to play, it’s darn addictive. If you have the game loaded up on your iPhone, you’ll know exactly what I mean. With that in mind, some quick update news for those of you that are addicted as much as I am. Earlier today, a Tiny Wings update popped up in the App Store, and it’s quite a deep revision. It’s worth the update, and here’s why… key updates include: … Read more
Over the last 10 years, TELUS has invested $250 million in network operations and technology in Manitoba. That’s a ton of cash, for sure… but when you look at that number, and ask yourself why TELUS’ advanced 4G network is only up and functioning in the Winnipeg area, it kind of makes you wonder where all the money has gone! On top of that, many friends and colleagues that I have in the area are none too impressed with the network, even after the recent upgrade. Clearly TELUS has a … Read more
Received a note from a good developer friend of mine this morning, letting me know about a new BlackBerry app (in Beta) from Fixmo. Called ‘Fixmo Extend’, this new app allows you to connect your laptop to the internet via your BlackBerry’s internet connection. From what I’ve read so far, it looks pretty neat. Made up of two apps (a mobile and desktop client), Fixmo Extend makes it easy to not only use your wireless plan on your laptop, it also makes it quite easy to monitor usage. If data … Read more
