The Verge is saying that AT&T has abandoned its plans to release the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD and leave room for the brand new Galaxy S III. Samsung’s Ryan Bidan explained that it simply didn’t make sense in light of the Galaxy S III announcement — it’s hard to justify an updated 720p version of the existing Skyrocket with the new (improved) product on the horizon. Samsung announced that Galaxy S III will hit the U.S. in June and as far as we can tell this is the … Read more

Months of waiting and listening to vague public remarks from AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega have led us to this moment. Finally we have confirmation that AT&T family data plans are coming soon — still vague, but something is better than nothing. Such a plan would allow families already living in an all-smartphone world to grab their monthly data from one big pool. “I’m very comfortable with the plan that will be offered to our customers,” said de la Vega at an event during the CTIA Wireless trade show. … Read more

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson has been on a roll as of late. First, he flat out admitted that customers should expect to see their wireless services prices go up thanks to the company’s botched acquisition of T-Mobile. Second, the AT&T boss expressed his regret of not getting rid of unlimited data plans a lot sooner. Boy, you got to love that good old Death Star. Just when you thought these disturbing confessions weren’t grim enough, Stephenson, has now blamed Google for delayed updates to its Android smartphones. Yes, you heard … Read more
One of the things that really makes it seem like we’re living in the future is being able to control all of your appliances from a smartphone or tablet and during CTIA 2012, AT&T gave us a glimpse of that future with its home automation demo. It’s pretty cool. The home automation demonstration was done with an iPad that could control lamps, alarms and the thermostat via a combination of WiFi and 3G. You have to hook up appliances to a connected adapter which then connects to a 3G enabled … Read more
