Contact UsHandset makers are not actually too excited to make Windows Phone handsets, as I’m sure you can tell. Nokia is commanding a lion’s share of the Windows Phone market, leaving just a small share for other players, including Samsung, HTC, Huawei, Acer, Asus and ZTE. According to DigiTimes’ report, this group of companies (and we presume other potential contenders) don’t like Microsoft’s licensing rates, which are apparently higher than vendors are willing to pay. In comparison, Android is available free of charge. Moreover, they say it’s not easy to compete … Read more

MetroPCS customers in a handful of cities such as Boston, Dallas, Hartford and Las Vegas can now use their unlocked GSM devices on the MetroPCS network, including GSM devices from the AT&T and T-Mobile. The service will support iPhones from AT&T and T-Mobile, as well … Read more

So users shouldn’t expect the best from this free app, however, … Read more
Nokia updated its Nokia Chat application for Lumia Windows Phone devices. The main new thing of version 1.1 is NFC support that allows users to quickly tap+send their chat address, the details of anyone on their chat contact list, and Nokia Chat itself to another NFC-equipped Lumia. You’ll still have to touch the screen to select the contact you want to share, but there’s at least one tap less included. In addition, Nokia Chat also got a number of performance and visual improvements. For instance, in a conversation with many … Read more
Nokia is working on a new software feature for its Lumia Windows 8 phones, and has announced a new “Glance Screen” feature today, which is still in beta. While we have our doubts about the Windows RT prospects, Microsoft keeps investing resources in this (what we think is) destined-to-fail platform. As part of the upcoming Windows 8.1 update, the Redmond giant will also launch Outlook 2013 for Windows RT tablets. For some reason, Office 2013 for Windows RT didn’t come included and Microsoft is now doing something about it. Actually that “now” won’t be before this fall, but better late than never. Once it’s ready for the prime time, Outlook will boast inline replies and “peeks” to view … Read more
What we have here is the first glimpse of the upcoming Windows Phone Blue that will likely be released later this year. Microsoft is (obviously) still quiet about what we can expect in the next version of Windows Phone though they’re not hiding that the notification center will be included as part of the update — they admitted running out of time to cram it in Windows Phone 8. Anyway, the screenshots we’ve got suggest that feature is coming, and so do UI tweaks and multitasking improvements with the ability … Read more
We’ve known for some time that Sprint has been planning on carrying a few Windows Phone 8 handsets this summer, specifically the Samsung Ativ S and the HTC Tiara, and a new FCC filing points to an imminent launch of at least one of those devices. The filing shows a Windows Phone 8 powered HTC device, which looks to be the oft rumored HTC Tiara. While the Tiara has yet to be officially announced, a picture from a FCC document shows a device named HTC PO88100, which has support for … Read more
Nokia will continue the practice of offering its device in multiple color versions with its soon-to-be-launched EOS camera phone. The device that we saw yesterday in a multiple leaked photos will be available in red, among other colors. That, at least, is the conclusion we (and many other blogs) made from the image above, representing the EOS’ case with room for that big-ass camera. Of course, we also expect Nokia to launch the EOS (or however it ends up calling the phone) in other colors, though we’ll have to wait … Read more
