Sometime in mid-September, Bell is now rumored to be launching the eco-friendly Samsung Reclaim. The Reclaim is made from corn-based bio-plastic materials, and when you’re done with it, the thing is 80% recyclable. Surely the Reclaim will be on the shopping-list of any environmentally conscious mobile junkie.
The Reclaim features a 2.4″ 320×240 display, a full QWERTY keyboard, 2MP camera with video, microSD expansion up to 32GB, 3.5mm headset jack, and much more.
No pricing or exact launch date details yet, all we know is the device is ‘coming soon. Look for the Samsung Reclaim to launch on Bell in blue and green. Stay tuned for more.
Bell is of course still busy as ever cranking out the PR for the upcoming Canadian version of the Palm Pre. In a new online campaign of sorts, the ‘Meet my Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre’ video takes the Pre to the streets in hopes of grabbing average Canadians’ attention and first impressions of the phone.
Of course, I’m a little suspicious as to whether all the folks involved here are real and not actors, but I’m always skeptical. If nothing else, I like the clip at the end where the one girl goes ‘She knows her s#@*!’. Nice.
Good grief. Not only are Palm cherry-picking Apple employees, but now they’re copying Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s commercials! Ok, ok, well, not exactly… Palm (NSDQ: PALM) isn’t, but Canadian carrier Bell is. Check out the new commercial for the Palm Pre above. Looks a little familiar don’t you think?
Bell, you can do better. Make the jump for a look at a recent iPhone commercial for a quick comparison. Ugh. C’mon Bell, you’ve got the Pre for cryin’ out loud! Am hoping you have another run of commercials up your sleeve! Read the full article »
In an effort to help educate Bell employees even further on the Pre, Bell has issued another internal document to front line employees. One page in particular that caught my eye is above. Actually, I think it’s quite brilliant. As you can see, the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre falls in the ‘Increasingly Smart’ area between the high utility BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Bold, and high entertainment of the iPhone 3G.
Bell offers an easy way for commit-o-phobes to get Internet access with no commitments. Easy, like college students. This Bell ad basically says that Bell’s Internet service works exactly like college students have sex – with no strings attached.
The ad is about as straightforward as it gets. There’s even a picture of some girl just about ready to jump some dude’s bones. If things go according to Bell’s (Internet) plan, he won’t even have to buy her breakfast.
My lucky, lucky (did I mention he is lucky?) bud John over at MobileSyrup has managed to get his hands on the Bell version of the Palm Pre. Why? For a little unboxing action of course! The video was super-duper, but sadly, before I posted this it looks like MobileSyrup was issued a takedown notice from the folks at Bell. Strange, when you consider we ALL knew it was coming, and really, there’s not too much new here to gawk about. Oh wait, I shouldn’t say that, inside the box there’s English AND French documents… that’s new, right!?
At any rate, John is sticking to it and has posted some images of the unboxing for us to enjoy. Check ‘em out below.
Well this is interesting. I’ve heard about the T-Mobile and AT&T version of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9700, but haven’t heard much news north of the border. The screenshot above (thanks, Mr. Blurrycam) changes everything. The shot is apparently of Bell’s internal systems, and you’ll notice the Bold 9700 name clearly (ok, not so clearly) in the bottom right corner. Both Bell and Telus (NYSE: TU) are gearing up to launch their HSPA services in the coming months… Having the 9700 on-board for launch would certainly be a good thing, no?
Stay tuned for more. Mr. Blurrycam images are most often a prelude to bigger and better things to come.
Bell has launched the newest in LG’s touchscreen lineup, the LG ‘Bliss’. I have to admit, when I first laid eyes on this one… me kinda likey. Looks nice. The Bliss features a 3″ touchscreen (240×400) and has 4 customizable home screens that you can tailor to your particular needs. You’ll also find a 2MP camera with video, and a 16GB of memory expansion via microSD. Of course, you’ll also get Bluetooth, a speakerphone, voice dialing and all of the typical features you’d expect (calendar, notes, calculator, etc.).
For more details you can head over to Bell… At the moment the LG Bliss will run you $79.95 on a 3-year contract, $129.95 on the 2-year, $229.95 on a 1-year and $279.95 outright.
As Bell is moving forward to complete the rollout of its HSPA network, they wanted to additionally sweeten the deal for its future users. On that note, they announced a reciprocal wireless roaming agreement with AT&T (NYSE: T) that will “enable AT&T wireless customers to roam on Bell Mobility’s new HSPA network when it launches, while providing Bell customers access to AT&T’s GSM and 3G wireless networks in the United States.”
In the other Bell news — and as part of their quarterly earnings report — they had 45,000 total net, which is 45.8% fewer than last year. Service revenues declined by 0.3%, whereas product revenues went down by 11.1%. Total operating revenues decreased by 1.4% which is all “impacted by the weaker economy.”
The question is how will upcoming launch of the Palm Pre help Canada’s operator boost its numbers. We’re certainly curious to see…
If you recall, yesterday some exciting Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre news leaked out for Canadian mobile junkies. It seems as though Future Shop posted a promo page for the device, letting the ‘cat out of the bag’ so-to-speak on the launch date for the Canadian Palm Pre.
Well, not long after that, as I sort of expected, Bell pushed an official press release out the door that confirmed the official launch date for Thursday, August 27th. Also, pricing on the Pre will run $199.95 on a 3-year term, or $599.95 outright. Looks like a minimum 500MB data plan will be required on all purchase options as well.
This is awesome news for all Canadians that have a Bell location handy. Unfortunately for me, Bell has no mobile presence in my area (heck, even the province)… So, I’m somewhat SOL on this one for the moment. I’m sure I’ll work my way around it though, somehow… Future Shop is just down the road.
Make the jump for more details and the official press release from Bell.
Note: Oh yeah, and you can pre-order at bell.ca/pre.
