Located near Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s Booth (later about that), the S60 Booth has all the proper gadgets on it – latest S60-based devices, freebies for S60 device owners (ringtones, wallpapers, etc), and other promo materials. Most of the S60 bloggers are also there. MRKTNGman was kind enough to demonstrate me the latest S60 3rd edition Feature pack 2. Enjoy the photos and screenshots.

Symbian booth at the 3GSM is as expected – quite modest. The business philosophy of Symbian is what drives its partners to it – “it’s not about us, it’s about the whole ecosystem”. Making sure that its partners benefit is what matters. Something that many companies could embrace.

Is it a dream? Did carriers finally got it? Or just some of them?
Earlier last month we saw 3 killing the roaming fees (in 3’s networks around Europe). Now, it’s O2 (NYSE: TEF) UK that extended its My Europe roaming scheme to cover 31 countries with the launch of My Europe Extra. The new service abolishes charges for incoming calls regardless of which network the call is received on. Also, making calls within Europe and back to the UK are charged at a flat rate of 25p per minute – a 70% discount over standard rates. Check out O2’s site for more info.

It’s not a secret that many companies are betting heavily on the mobile TV. Of course, the Finish giants wants the “piece of the action” and they’ve announced their Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N77 “multimedia computer”. The new device looks very much like the N73, but is designed for primarily for mobile TV (in comparison N73 is designed as an “ultimate challenge to the digital camera”).
The Nokia N77 is an easy to use and stylishly mobile TV device. Features include a wide 2.4″ screen with up to 16 million colors, high quality stereo sound, alerts when programs are starting, and a guide to view program information for up to seven days, browse TV channels, and purchase new channels. It is expected to start shipping during the Q2 2007 in countries where DVB-H services are available.

With the announcement of its new Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 6110 Navigator, Nokia is set to mainstream the navigation. The mass-market navigation-enabled S60-based mobile phone is Nokia’s answer to the growing popularity of the location based services.
Using integrated GPS, the phone enables consumers to quickly and easily view their current location on map, search for destinations, find specific routes, or locate nearby services such as restaurants, hotels or shops. Featuring full turn-by-turn 3D navigation, it suggests the best route to follow by car or on foot, using voice or visual instructions on a map.

The Nokia 6110 Navigator is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2007.

It’s been some time since the last Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Communiactor was announced. The market is ready, the platform (S60 on top of Symbian 9) is set, and the new Communicator arrived.
The features – well, it has everything! There’s a GPS, 3.2 MP camera, two screens (external 240×320, and internal 800×352), WLAN connectivity, full QWERTY keyboard and is about the size of the Nokia 9300. Unfortunately, rumored touchscreen is missing, but nevertheless – the new Communicator rocks! I’ve seen how the browsing looks like and all I can say it that I want one. Unfortunately, that will have to wait for Q2 2007 when first deliveries of the Nokia E90 Communicator are anticipated to take place (volume global availability during Q3 2007).

Unveiling of the stylish Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E65 slider phone was everything but a surprise. Leaked photos of the device were distributed all around the Web for almost a month. Plus, the device got approved by the FCC. And… finally – it’s here.
As expected – the E65 sports 2 MP camera and wide array of connectivity options (including WLAN). Symbian with S60 3rd edition takes care of the UI. The E65 is already available in select markets.

As expected, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has announced its new business device – Nokia E61i, successor to the popular E61. Unlike the E61, the E61i comes with a 2 MP camera, 5-way button navigation instead of a joystick, and is just a little bit thinner.
The S60 3rd edition (no Feature packs) is still the main UI/software platform which runs on top of Symbian OS. The new design improvements (especially the joystick removal) should make the E61i much more appealing to the business users, which could get it from the second quarter of 2007.
