Reading Fake Steve Jobs and I came across a blog post where he says, and I quote:

“I mean, Holy friggin mother of Jesus, what the fuck is that? Is it a horn sprouting out of his skull? Is he some kind of man-unicorn hybrid? If you rub his bump will it bring you good luck?”

Dear FSJ, that is my horn and I would appreciate that you didn’t insult him (joking of course). The guy sitting right next to Scoble is my best friend Greg, we were both at the Podtech Bloghaus talking about the iPhone, Web 2.0, you name it. I remember that day vividly because it was the first time I met Robert Scoble in real life and I turned into a stuttering baffon because it was just an awesome experiance. I saw Dave Winer at the party too, but was too afraid to say hi. To be honest Dave looks like an intimidating person when he bangs away at a keyboard which is what he essentially did during the entire duration of the party.

Those Newcastle’s on the table are one of many and I would like to thank Podtech for holding that awesome party and look forward to coming to the one in 2008, yes ladies and gentlemen I’m going to CES.

At the end of the day I feel amazed that I got bashed by FSJ, that really does touch my heart, in a good way.

I can’t believe this video hit the net! Some background information: this was shot at the Bellagio in Las Vegas during the BlogHaus party. Greg is my best friend who came to CES with me. He doesn’t write for Ring Nokia (NYSE: NOK) exactly, but he is definitely is a source of inspiration for a few of my posts. Not to mention his grasp on the English system of grammar is vastly superior to mine, so as a proof reader he is brilliant. We debate, argue, praise, and slam everything that runs on electricity on a daily basis. It is the staple of our friendship. Regularly in our conversations he brings the view in from a consumer perspective, while I usually bring the hardcore, power user perspective, to the table.

That is where our ideas clash and that is why he is my best friend. Why would I want to talk to someone who agreed with everything that came out of my mouth?

Yet another site you guys should bookmark, Anandtech is all about computer hardware. Long before I was into mobile phones, I was and still am, extremely into computers. Anandtech’s reviews are epic, detailed, and the writers usually respond to my emails within a few hours. If you’re not into computers or the computer industry, then don’t bother checking this site out. If however you are into the latest processors, motherboards, video cards, overclocking, and want rich, thorough, unbiased reviews, Anandtech is way up there on my short list of extremely high quality sites.

Check out the entire "Best of CES" list to see what else they thought rocked at the show.

This is the most revealing line, and it flows with my desires as well:

Although the phone [Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N95] is very full featured, one feature that seems almost overlooked is the inclusion of a touch screen. Applications like GPS do not seem intuitive without a touch screen.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s N93i is the company’s refresh of their popular N93 imaging phone. We shot a few live photos of the device while playing around with it in the Nokia tent in front of the Consumer Electronics Show exhibit hall last week.

The most obvious changes made to the N93 to bring about the N93i are related to the physical design. The new N93i is a fair bit shorter, narrower, and lighter than its predecessor, which was, admittedly, a very bulky device. The new i variant is still a very large handset, weighing a solid 163g (5.75oz), but it appears much less so due to the new design elements. You can consider some of the changes to be like a person wearing vertical stripes – they look thinner, even if they aren’t really. In fact, the N93i is 3mm thicker than the N93 it replaces.

But either way, the N93i is a snazzier dresser than its older sibling, even if it is still bulky. The new mirrored finished flip is quite attractive, but looks like it will be difficult to keep clean. The new keypad design also enhances the appearance of the device. In terms of handling and controls, the N93i felt just like a N93 to me. The controls all appear to be in the same positions, and the wild flip out display appears to work in the same configurations.

Nokia expect the new N93i to go on sale later this quarter in 2007. You’ll find a few more live CES photos of the device on the next page.

I am disappointed there weren’t any more pictures of people since those put a camera to the test. Flesh tones and depth of field are where camera phones such as the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N95, N93 and N73 are put to shame by a handful of typically less than $200 point and shoot cameras. Sure scenery may look cool, but let’s be a little bit realistic. People take pictures of friends.

As the N93i is a bit smaller, the battery needed to change as well – Because of this, the standby and talk times are lower than in the N93. It’s not the first time Nokia (NYSE: NOK) have made standby times lower in the i model, so it’s not surprising, but it’s still a bit of a let down, especially with regard to talk time. The N93 had up to 5h and the N93i has 3.1h – 3.9h (all GSM times, 3G takes more battery power and doesn’t even last that long). If you’re going to take the N93i with you in the morning, and you have to use it the whole day without recharging, having just over three hours of talk time isn’t really that good. If you’re going to be filming a bit, taking pictures and using the photo flash, then of course talk time is going to suffer further, so the battery power isn’t impressive. If you’re using 3G and not GSM, the situation is looking downright horrible. It is important to have the phone running the whole day from dawn till dusk with only a single charge.

I do have to say that after living a while with the N93i, it starts to feel like an essential part of your normal life. It’s difficult to let go of it, because you so easily grow to like it. And after you’ve used the N93i and you go back to using N93, the N93 just looks boring and old. It even feels old. The N93i is a refreshing update and it is really difficult to get back to using the older N93 model. The most annoying thing in the N93 is the old style joypad or keypad or whatever you call it – Instead of just tilting the joystick to move around, you have to press buttons, and they’re so small.

One of the rare bad things about the N800 is battery life. If you don’t use it, it will stay operational for days, but you can only surf for about 3h before the battery starts running low. You can extend the time by making the display less bright and shutting off stuff you don’t need like Bluetooth (although turning off Bluetooth when you don’t need it is a good idea anyway, because some viruses use Bluetooth as a gateway to the device) and minimising WiFi signal strength (although if you do this, you have to stay much closer to a WiFi hotspot). But as long as you don’t wander too far from the nearest mains outlet, it shouldn’t be a very big problem. The N800 hasn’t been designed to be used as a phone (that you recharge it in the morning and the next time you put it in the charger is the evening) anyway, but the battery should still last an hour or two longer.

This is the limo Nokia (NYSE: NOK) had, and they used it to run over an N76. As soon as I find that video it’s sooo going up! But what about inside the limo?

Whoa that’s a lot of people! I can spot Darla Mack and Rafe from All About Symbian but I don’t know anyone else. It’s a shame I didn’t get to meet the Nokia crew, then again I’ve only been blogging since November 19th 2006 so I’m not in the scene just yet.
