Contact UsWherever your loyalties lie in the latest round of Mac vs. Windows (vs. Android), you can’t deny that Microsoft’s new Windows 8 tablet ad below is pretty clever. The TV spot completely glosses over any of the advantages of the iPad over the 64GB Asus tablet, while pointing out the lower cost, multitasking and other selling points of the Windows 8 slab. What’s genius about the ad is that it uses Apple’s own Siri (or well, a computer voice that sounds just like her) to point out the shortcomings of … Read more
Few days ago, Square unveiled the Square Stand, a specially designed iPad stand with an embedded card reader that creates a fancy alternative to traditional cash registers. We must say the Square Stand + iPad installation reminds us little on the iMac but I guess that was the idea — to piggyback on the proven design Apple fans are used to. In the official press release, Square co-founder Jack Dorsey described the $299 Square Stand as “elegant, fast, affordable and easy to use,” and as such – perfect for any … Read more
Today alongside the large announcements revolving around Apple’s Q2 2013 earnings, Tim Cook spoke briefly about what Apple has in the pipeline. In doing so, he seemingly killed off rumors that there might be new devices this summer. His quote that says it all is: “Our teams are working on new hardware, software, and services that we can’t wait to introduce this Fall and throughout 2014.” Tim Cook does say that some of what’s currently unannounced will arrive “throughout 2014″ but that’s most likely software. Apple’s WWDC is always in … Read more
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on an iPad or just want to upgrade from the older model that you are currently reading this on, you’re in luck today as Apple has reduced the price of its certified refurbished Wi-Fi plus Cellular and Wi-Fi plus 3G variants of the iPad 2 and iPad 3rd Generation models. The bargain iPads can only be purchased online through Apple’s website, and do not translate to retail stores. The savings are pretty substantial, with the 16GB Wi-Fi plus 3G variant of the … Read more
If you insist on taking photos with your iPad, why not add a nice telephoto lens to your set up? It’s more to carry around, makes your sleek tablet lopsided and unruly, and comes with the added bonus of making you look even more ridiculous waving your iPad in the air, screaming “SAYYYY CHEEEEEESE!” Photojojo has a new line of telephoto lens adapters for the iPad 3, iPad 4 (10x), and iPad mini (12x), and they’re as stylish as you’d think, resembling something in between a Dalek’s eyestalk and its … Read more
Buying a case for a tablet can be a fun experience. This is because tablet cases have become less about protecting your shiny new $500+ device and more of a fashion accessory. Choices range from the intriguing to downright odd and hardly functional. At the end of the day, when you drop that bedazzled case, it’ll shatter, along with your tablet on impact. When that happens, you’ll likely wish that you went with something a bit better. Possibly the best case on the market to keep your tablet protected is from G-Form, … Read more
A supposed case of the next-generation iPad 5 has been photographed in Hong Kong. Again, this suggest that the new iPad will infact have a complete redesign. Many suspect that the next-gen iPad is going to adopt the look and feel of its smaller brethren in the iPad mini, which is something we’ve been hearing since late January. With Apple dropping the ball with secrecy as of late (ahem: remember the iPhone 5 shell casing leak?); it’s hard to 100 percent refute this case as not being the legit form … Read more
Lately I’ve noticed that there’s a new trend in the way I’ve been using my iPad 2 or, rather, the way I haven’t been using it. That’s just it: I haven’t been using it. I’ve owned my iPad for about two years now and I go through the highs and lows. The highs are when I use it a lot for reading articles, playing games, organizing my life, maybe even watching a movie, and so on. The lows are when I’ll occasionally pick it up to do any one of … Read more
Microsoft could be making few more billions if it releases Office for iPad, according to a Morgan Stanley analyst. The finance firm’s Adam Holt thinks that if priced at around $60, some 30% of iPad users would buy the software, generating up to $2.5 billion for the Redmond-based giant, even after Apple has taken its own cut. The thinking must be to save the Office for Windows-based platforms and make that a unique selling point of tablets running Microsoft’s platform. That, apparently, is easier said than done, with Ballmer & … Read more
TopCoder has launched two developer competitions that are the initial phase to build a fully functioning iPad app from concept to deployment using TopCoder’s open innovation community and process. What makes this contest interesting is the fact that NASA sponsored it through its NASA Tournament Lab (NTL). NASA’s Nutritional Biochemistry Laboratory in the Human Health and Performance Directorate at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas is looking for an iPad-based solution that monitors the dietary intake of crews during missions to make sure they’re consuming enough calories while in … Read more
