It’s hard to say that Windows 8 tablets have done much for the market, but that certainly hasn’t stopped manufacturers from pushing the devices out. Well, if you’ve been pining for a smaller Windows 8 tablet to call your own, Acer has your back with the W3-810. This 8.1 inch tablet can be found on Amazon for only $379.99.

The W3-810 stands a chance to win quite a few people over. Smaller tablets are not only cheaper, but are easier to bring along with you. This much is true for the W3-810, but $380 is still a bit cheap for an operating system that hasn’t really proved to be real competition to Android tablets and iPads. Nonetheless, the smaller display on Acer’s new Windows 8 tablet is definitely attractive, and that might be enough for a few people looking for a new tablet.

Rocking a 8.1 inch 1280 x 800 display, 1.8GHz Intel Atom CPU, 2GB of RAM, the W3-810 isn’t underpowered in the least bit. Still, there’s no mention of expandable storage, so you’ll be stuck with whatever memory left in the tablet that Windows 8 itself doesn’t take up. Then again, the photo above looks to reveal such a slot, but the jury is still out on that one. Other specs include a Micro HDMI port, Micro USB 2.0 port, 2 megapixel cameras on both the front and back, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and other goodies that have become standard in any tablet today.

Windows 8 has an uphill battle ahead of it to become a viable tablet option, as Android tablet and iPads unquestionably dominate the market today. Could cheaper Windows 8 tablets at lower price points turn it around?

Would you be interested in grabbing one of these tablets? Sound off in the comments below!

The tablet is currently out of stock at the moment, but if you’re interested in the Acer W3-810, be sure to hit up the Amazon page here!

We applaud Microsoft for taking this route as smaller tablets are getting more popular with the day as they are (obviously) easier to carry around.

Acer has two different family of tablets, with those starting with “A” running Android, while the “W” series is reserved for Windows RT and Windows 8.

At that time, we didn’t know how much Acer will sell its device for, but now we (think we) have that information…

Another contender is also preparing an 8-inch tablet of its own – Samsung, but as we know it, they’ll ask a premium ($399) for their product.

Again, the Iconia A1-810 will sport MediaTek’s quad-core processor, 7.9-inch 1024×768 pixels screen, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth and a memory card slot. The device will start mass production later this month with shipment volumes to rise each month.

Propelled by the success of its low-end Iconia B1 tablet, Acer hopes to sell some 7 million Android tablets this year.

The upcoming Acer Liquid S will apparently come with a quad-core processor as well as other high-end components like 2GB of RAM, a ton of built-in storage, and so on. We don’t have all the details at the moment, but we’re sure Acer needs to beef-up its game and finally launch a device worth talking about. we’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as we hear something new on this. Stay tuned in the meantime…

Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of these tablets (7 million) will run Android, while 3 million will come with Windows.

According to DigiTimes, Acer is betting heavily on the success of its low-cost Iconia B1 tablet, and is currently shipping anywhere between 200,000 and 300,000 units per month. The B1, as you probably know, is a 7-inch tablet with 1024×600 pixels resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, VGA camera, microSD memory card slot, and 8 or 16 GB of built-in storage.

The story goes on suggesting that the Taiwanese company will unveil two additional entry-level tablets, one with an 8- and the other one with 10-inch screen. The former should go into production at some point in April, and most likely start hitting store shelves few months later. We’ll let you know when we hear something new on this…

Acer Iconia B1, the company’s low-end 7-inch tablet which was announced at this year’s CES, got a slightly beefed-up version in Barcelona, one that doubles the built-in storage to 16GB. Other than that, we’re talking about the same device that wants to find its audience among first-time tablet buyers on a budget. Again, the Iconia B1 comes with a 7-inch WSVGA (1,024 x 600 pixels), 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Wi-Fi connectivity and front-facing camera. At 320 grams, it’s one of the most portable tablets ever released — which is not surprising ... Read more

We can’t really suggest anyone to pick up Acer’s baby, except perhaps as your second tablet that will be used exclusively by kids; so if they scratch it, no one will care. Otherwise, you’re much better off getting the Nexus 7, which may lack a memory card slot and HDMI out, but has a better screen, faster processor and will be among the first devices to get the latest version of Android the minute it’s released.

A few days before the big show starts at Barcelona, Acer announced two new smartphones — Liquid Z2 and Liquid E1 — both of which will be available in single and dual-SIM versions. According to Acer, these two are made for “feature phone upgraders” and in that sense we shouldn’t expect the high-end specs. The E1 model (pictured above), which we’ve seen leaked a month ago, comes with a 4.5-inch qHD screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, DTS sound and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

On the other hand, the Z2 is an entry-level smartphone with a smallish (by today’s standards) 3.5-inch HVGA screen, though it keeps the 1GHz dual-core processor. In addition, both phones will also be sold with access to AcerCloud, the company’s cloud-based file sharing service.

When it comes to availability, the Acer Liquid Z2 and E1 will first start selling in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Ukraine; followed by Russia, UK and Italy. Unfortunately, prices were not mentioned in the press release…
