The mobile specialist failed to mention the exact launch date and pricing, but we tend to believe interested users will be able to grab the Ascend P2 in white for free as long as they commit on a two-year contract with one of the major carriers, including Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, EE and O2. The unlocked unit will likely go for more than 300 GBP.

At 8.4mm, Huawei’s baby is one of the thinnest smartphones around. It comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 13-megapixel camera, LTE connectivity support, a ton of built-in storage, and so on.

Alongside the new phone, the Chinese company is also launching “Huawei W1 ‘Make it Yours’ Music & Mobile Sweepstakes.” Beginning May 15, fans of the Huawei W1 and Jonas Brothers will be able to enter to win the smartphone, tickets to attend Jonas Brothers Tour concerts, and even a chance to meet the band in person.

Huawei failed to mentioned the price though it did say the Ascend W1 will offer “unbeatable value to consumers” whatever that means.

Specs wise, it comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 13-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing camera, as well as “standard for Android” sensors and connectivity options. Plus, let’s not forget what Huawei says is large (and we would say decent) 2420mAh battery, which is itself augmented by Huawei’s own power-saving technologies like Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX), which reduce power consumption and charging time and combine to give power efficiencies of up to 30%. Kinda bold statement and we’ll rather have to try it out ourselves before believing into this.

Anyway, the Ascend P2 will be available from UK retailers on various network operators in black and white in June. Details of availability and pricing will be announced shortly, and in the meantime you are free to check our hands-on time with Huawei’s smartphone…

We love how some manufacturers are dumping plastic for more durable materials and can’t wait to see what Huawei has in store for mid-June. If earlier rumors were correct, HTC, Samsung and Sony will get serious competition. We’re just hoping we won’t have to wait for too long before the company’s new flagship device actually starts selling… cause Huawei is infamous for delayed product launches…

Huawei is the world’s second largest telecom equipment maker in the world, but it has failed to break into the US market. Congress has blocked the company from installing phone and data networks in the US because it views the Chinese company as a threat to national security. Australia and Canada also bar Huawei equipment on its government networks.

As you can see from the image above (and few other images below), this will be one sexy device that fits just about any pocket. It is said that the P6-U06 will have a 6.18mm-thin body, weighing only 120 grams. In addition, the phone will also pack a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 5-megapixel camera on the back and 32GB of internal storage.

We’re not sure when the Chinese company will officially announce the P6-U06 but we’re hoping we won’t have to wait for too long. Moreover, we would like it to have a more memorable name like Ascend P6 cause that other part (U06) makes it super-hard to remember. Can’t wait to try it out…

The new simulator includes support for rotating displays and mock geolocation data for testing location-based apps. It also allows for the use of some keyboard shortcuts, and now supports newer versions of Firefox OS and the Gaia user interface.

Companies such as Sony, ZTE, LG and Huawei have already announced that they will manufacture devices running the Firefox OS. ZTE showed off a few of its Firefox OS handsets at Mobile World Congress last February, and a small startup called Geeksphone sold its Firefox OS reference phones the Keon and Peak to developers and were forced to limit sales due to the high demand.

The Firefox OS is slated to launch in emerging smartphone markets such as Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Venezuela. Mozilla’s thinking is that a strong app ecosystem must exist before entering the U.S. market, and that the FFOS powered phones will be embraced by first time smartphone buyers.

Mozilla expects a rollout of the Firefox OS in June of this year in certain markets.

First of all, we like how compact this phone is, packing a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen (though we would prefer it to be a full HD one) in its aluminum body, making for a premium look and feel.

Rest of the specs are decent (not superb though) as well and include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor (most likely Huawei’s own K3V2), 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, 5-megapixel rear camera, while Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is running the show. Sure enough, we would appreciate a better camera but we’re whiling to make that trade off for an all-metal super-slim body. No word when this bad boy will hit the Western markets, but the chances are something like that is in the pipeline. We’ll let you know as soon as new information emerges…

Yet again, we doubt many of you will be able to try out this particular Huawei device. As far as we know, it won’t make it to the West and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The mid-to-high end device has been caught while getting approval from China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, sporting a 5-inch 720p HD screen and MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Moreover, the G700 also packs an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, 1GB of RAM and TD-SCDMA network support, hinting us it’s heading to China Mobile. That said, Huawei may introduce this phone under a new name in other parts of the world, replacing the China-only 3G radio with an HSPA-based one. Not that we necessarily want the Ascend G700 as we have other devices from the Ascend family incoming in the next few weeks and months. Personally, I can’t wait to try out the Ascend D2 though the P2 is also an interesting product…

Aside from the aluminum (uni)body, Huawei’s baby will also pack a 4.9-inch 1080p full HD screen, 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, 2,600mAh battery, while Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will run the show right from the get-go. The smaller battery (Ascend D2 has a 3,000mAh one) suggests we’re talking about a thinner device — it will be 6.3mm thin — making it easier to fit your pocket. Guess something’s gotta give…

Anyway, the second half of the year will be interesting to watch with back to school and Christmas shopping seasons promising hot new devices, some of which may debut new processors, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and Nvidia Tegra 4. We’ll make sure you don’t miss a beat.
