In that sense, the day when the new device started selling resembles the Meizu M9 launch last year when we’ve seen long lines formed at stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. This time round, Meizu also launched its product in Hong Kong, which is their first step outside of mainland China.

Customers who pre-ordered the device last year got a priority treatment and went home with an Android-powered smartphone. On the other hand, not all walk-in customers got their Meizu fix since supply was “very limited.”

In related news, a Meizu engineer said on the company’s forum that from now on, all Meizu devices, the M9 included, will receive both a vanilla OS build and a build customized by Meizu. However, customers will have to pick the system once and won’t be able to switch between the two — at least not using any official app.

It wasn’t that long ago when we talked about the Meizu MX, the latest product from the world’s famous iPhone cloner. The device itself is rock-solid, sporting a dual-core CPU, 4-inch screen and the familiar all-touchscreen form factor. However, that’s not enough for the company founder Jack Wong, who turned to Meizu forums (Chinese language page) to say that the quad-core version may arrive in May.

Aside from the more powerful processor, this next Meizu MX will also come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a revamped Flyme UI to accommodate the changes in the platform.

And that’s about all we have at the moment. No word whether Meizu will bring its products in Europe or U.S. Guess Apple still doesn’t like ‘em and the Chinese company on its end doesn’t want to mess with the Western legal systems…

Meizu, which is arguably the world’s best known iPhone cloner, unveiled a new smartphone – Meizu MX. The device looks pretty slick and is also pretty powerful. It comes with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 4-inch touchscreen with 960×640 pixels resolution a la iPhone, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing VGA camera, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity, and 16GB of internal storage.
The Meizu MX will be available in mainland China and Hong Kong starting January 1st for about $470. We’ve no idea whether it will ever be released elsewhere, but we’re sure that’s something Meizu would like to see happening. And although their latest product looks like it’s made by Apple, so do many other smartphones released these days so I guess at the end they may find their way to the Western customer. We’ll see…
