Contact UsDell’s Latitude 10.1 tablet is gaining popularity with educational usage around the U.S., with four public schools deploying Dell’s 10 inch tablet in lieu of Apple’s iPad for tablet based education. The Latitude is one of the many Windows 8 tablets out there, and this adoption could help users warm up to the fledgling OS. Microsoft is getting cozy with Google by releasing support for Android apps into its Windows Azure Mobile Services. This move allows developers to add authentication and push notifications to Microsoft’s cloud service. Previous to this release, Azure Mobile Services supported Windows Phone 8, iOS and Windows 8. Windows today is finally bringing it’s panorama app Photsynth to Windows Phone 8 users. The app had previously been released on iOS and Windows Phone 7, but was missing on Windows’ newest platform. Microsoft has taken the time to make sure Photosynth works flawlessly with Windows Phone 8′s features, and is promising “beautiful and immersive” panorama shots. Some of the features of the Photosynth app are new tools for changing exposure rates and adjusting white balance , the ability to view shared panoramas, and general improvements that will bring bug and stability fixes. Greg Sullivan, a senior marketing manager at Microsoft, told PCMag yesterday that Windows Phone 8 devices will eventually be upgradeable to the next major version of the Windows Phone OS, presumably Windows Phone 9. Microsoft has been making some big moves with Skype integration lately. Last week, Microsoft released a video voicemail update for most Skype users, which was surprisingly missing for Windows users. Today, Skype president Tony Bates announced at a Lync Conference Keynote that Skype and Lync will soon be connected, allowing Lync users to call and message Skype users. This convergence is slated to start in June of this year, and launch of video connectivity has yet to be announced.
