To promote the “smallest of Eseries” devices, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) created an interesting campaign – Nokia E50 Contest. Users are invited in a group (3 friends) to participate in creation of the humorous strip (comic). The team which make Nokia fall off their chairs in laughter, wins a Nokia E50 (who knows maybe the black E50).

More information is now available about the upcoming members of Nokia (NYSE: NOK) ESeries family – E61i and E65. According to AllAboutSymbian, Nokia has added a number of user agent profile files to their website. Among the new files are the ones for the upcoming Nokia E61i and E65 smartphones.
Of course, both devices will run on Symbian S60 platform. Furthermore, as we’ve already posted earlier, Nokia E61i will sport a camera, and the E65 will most probably resemble N80. As a reminder, check out our post with the pictures of Nokia E62i.
Rogers Wireless and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced the Canadian launch of BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Connect support for the recently released Nokia E62 smartphone. Starting from December 21, 2006, Canadian customers will be able to use their Nokia E62 device with BlackBerry Connect to access BlackBerry wireless services, including support for both BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service.
With BlackBerry Connect, Nokia E62 users benefit from a variety of proven BlackBerry features, including push-based connectivity, wireless email synchronization and attachment viewing. Additional features supported by BlackBerry Enterprise Server include wireless calendar synchronization, remote address lookup, IT commands and policy enforcement, and advanced security with Triple DES encryption.
To pursue its domination in the developing countries, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) plans to build two new design facilities – one in Rio de Janerio, Brazil and another one in Bangalore, India. According to Nokia CEO and President Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, by 2010, there will be 4 billion mobile subscribers in the world, most of them coming from the Asia-Pacific region.
Nokia is already a market leader in India, and with the growth in number of mobile subscribers in the country, the company plans to further strengthen its position. At present, India has around 136 million mobile subscribers, but the telephone penetration is about 16% only. AllAboutSymbian’s Rafe Blandford had a chance to get his hands on the recently announced Nokia 6290. The new mid-tier clamshell quad-band GSM smartphone runs Symbian OS with S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and sports a 2 MP camera, FM radio, stereo speakers and dual screen.
In its preview, Rafe found that the size of the device (94 x 50 x 20.8 mm) matches feature phones, yet the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 6290 gives retains most of the power of a smartphone. Furthermore, he discusses the clamshell form factor and its “success” with S60 devices.
