Rogers is in the midst of rebranding parts of its high-speed network to LTE Max to highlight the fact that it runs across two high-frequency bands, AWS (1700/2100Mhz) and 2600Mhz. The idea here is to convey the message that Rogers is different from other Canadian carriers and that its network is fastest out there, providing theoretical download speeds of up to 150 Mbps. To spice-up pre-orders of the Galaxy S4, Canada’s Rogers is offering a $35 Google Play Gift Card to anyone who pre-orders Sammy’s super-phone. The device itself will be available on April 27th, though Rogers stores will get it few days after that, on May 3rd. The legal fine print says that this works for both new and existing customers as long as they activate between April 26th and June 30th. Canada’s Rogers Wireless promised to expand its network to 44 new locations by the end of this year, and eventually reach 21.5 million users across the country. RIM, it’s a nasty word we just don’t use anymore. The newly rebranded company, now going by BlackBerry, is releasing its keyboard touting, BlackBerry 10 OS running smartphone in Canada on May 1st of this year. Canadian carriers such as Rogers Wireless, Bell Mobility and Telus will be selling the Q10, which will retail for $199 CSD with the signing of a three-year contract. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is now making its way to Canada, with pre-orders for the 16GB version of the device going live today for customers on Rogers, Telus and Bell. The Galaxy S4 is available for $199 CAD with the signing of a new three-year plan. The smartphone is expected to ship on the 27th of this month, and appearing in Telus stores on May 3rd. Soon after the US launch, HTC will start selling its how-new HTC One in Canada, with TELUS and Rogers committing to offer what many consider the most desirable smartphone ever made. Both carriers will launch the One on April 19th and I guess pre-orders will start any day now.
