Samsung bringing CorbyTXT and Corby Mate to India

Samsung’s Corby devices are ideal for youth and emerging markets. In the latter sense, we have the Korean company bringing two phones from the series to India. The “world’s fastest growing mobile phone market” will get the CorbyTXT as well as Corby Mate, which will be available for Rs. 7,900 and Rs. 7,300, respectively.

The first of the two, CorbyTXT (B3210) comes with a 2.2-inch screen, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity support, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM Radio and a microSD memory card slot. As for the Corby Mate, its screen is little smaller (2-inches), and it has a side-slider form factor, whereas rest of the specs are pretty much the same. Both handsets come with full QWERTY keyboard and are thus ideal for heavy texters…

Samsung Behold 2 Now For Sale on T-Mobile

Samsung Behold2 TMo Samsung Behold 2 Now For Sale on T MobileNovember 18 was set as the Samsung Behold 2’s launch, and here we are with another addition to the Android family. T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) is offering a 3.2″ AMOLED touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, Wi-Fi, GPS, and the usual Google (NSDQ: GOOG) fare like Maps, Mail, Search, YouTube and the Android Market for $299.99 on two years of the Even More plan (or $57/month if you’d like to try financing the device). That cube-spinning interface gimmick looks like it would wear off awfully quick, but if you’re interested in giving TouchWiz-tinged Android a shot, you can pick up the Behold 2 from T-Mobile here. I believe Will is giving the Behold 2 a test drive presently, so sit tight for a review in the near future.

Android-powered Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica ready for Europe

Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica

After Russia, Samsung is bringing its Android-powered i5700 Galaxy Spica to Europe. The 800 MHz CPU-equipped device will certainly help Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s OS run faster, while also ensuring the smooth DivX video playback.

Rest of the specs include HSDPA support, 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus, GPS, digital compass, WiFi, microSD card slot, 1500mAh battery and so on. Software wise, the smartphone comes pre-loaded with bunch of Google apps such as Google Maps, GMail and YouTube; whereas Android 1.5 Cupcake is running the show (hopefully it will be upgradable to Android 2.0 Eclair).

Pricing information was not provided, but we’ve heard the Spica is now (or will be in the near future) available across Europe and the CIS nations…

South Korea’s Samsung Corby comes with a larger screen, mobile TV support

Samsung Corby for Korea

Remember the Samsung Corby? The Korean version of the device is slightly better, we just found out. It comes with a larger 3-inch screen (up from the original 2.8-inch screen), and apparently popular-in-Korea T-DMB mobile TV receiver. Other than that, Corby’s specs remain unchanged, and like that’s the case with the international version, Samsung will sell its Korea-only Corby (Korby?) as an affordable all-touchscreen handset, as well. Hopefully, they’ll also bring that version without mobile TV to the rest of the planet. We don’t need a friggin’ T-DMB, but we always want a slightly larger screen. ;)

Samsung Go netbook coming to AT&T on November 22nd

Samsung Go

Samsung announced that it will be providing AT&T (NYSE: T) with its netbook – Samsung Go. Specs wise, it’s “yet another netbook” which relies on the Intel Atom CPU coupled with Windows 7 Starter Edition. In addition there’s a built-in HSPA modem, WiFi connectivity support, comfortable pebble-style keyboard, 4-cell 4000Ah battery that provides enough juice for up to 4 hours of work, and so on.

The pricing was not announced, and I’m guessing AT&T will have the last word on the 2.8 lbs (1.27 kg)-heavy device. I’m betting the carrier will ask around $200 (probably $199.99) for the Go, with a contract.

Samsung not dropping Symbian after all

Samsung not dropping Symbian after all

Samsung will not drop the Symbian support, despite the rumor that has started spreading across the Interwebs few days ago. The Korean company commented on the story, which BTW originates from Taiwanese site DigiTimes, saying the article “is not in line with Samsung’s smartphone strategy.” They went on to add:

Samsung is an initial member of Symbian Foundation and continues to cooperate with Symbian Foundation. At the same time, Samsung supports various existing open operating systems including Symbian, Linux, Android, and Windows Mobile. To provide more choices to meet consumers’ many different tastes and preferences, we will continue our “multi-OS” strategy. Our policy is to provide what consumers want when they need.

That’s cool to know but we do wonder when we’ll see a new Symbian handset from Samsung. Having multiple platforms available on the market is beneficial to the end users in my eyes…

T Mobile Samsung Behold II T Mobile Set to Launch Samsung Behold II on November 18th

UPDATE: CNET has noted pricing will be $229.99 on a 2-year contract.

Yesterday I noted some pricing details on the T-Mobile Samsung Behold II (and the Bold 9700), and today, official word from T-Mo themselves that the Behold II is arriving November 18th. If the pricing leaks are correct, the Behold will be $449.99 or $22.50/mth outright, or $199.99 on a 2-year contract. Anyone out there getting in line for the Behold II and all of it’s TouchWiz ‘cube’ UI craziness?

Samsung unveils multi-colored Corby Bluetooth headset – WEP490

In Accessories, Samsung

Samsung Corby Bluetooth headset - WEP490

Samsung is extending its Corby family of devices with a Bluetooth headset – WEP490. Just like the phones in the series (at least some), the headset is also available in multiple colors. The idea seems to provide users with ideal matching option that goes perfectly with their Corby phone. In that sense, the WEP490 is available in four dual-tone colors along with an all-black version. All of them feature sharp edge design, single big button for taking/ending calls, volume control keys and a status LED indicator. Noise reduction technology, echo cancellation and automatic volume control are also included in the mix, and the battery can work for up to 6 hours of talk, or up to 180 hours of standby time.

Russia will be the first country to get the Samsung Corby Bluetooth headset, and interested users will be able to grab it for 1,300 rubles, which is about $45. We’ve no doubts other markets will follow in the near future, as well.

Bada Bing? Leaked Shot of Samsung’s First Bada OS Handset?

samsung bada hardware Bada Bing? Leaked Shot of Samsungs First Bada OS Handset?

In case you missed it, back on Tuesday Samsung announced their new mobile OS dubbed ‘Bada‘. While the announcement was all well and good, there was absolutely no mention of features, screenshots, or anything else that may have tickled our curiosity bone. Boo-urns on Samsung for sure… Boo-urns. For those of us that want to know more, we’re going to have to wait until December, when the Korean company will unveil Bada at an event in the UK.

It’s quite interesting to note that Samsung develops hardware for Symbian, Win-Mo and Android… yet, I suppose that’s not enough. They want their share of the OS market and are going for it. Good on ‘em, but me thinks it’s going to be a tough slog.

Today, a shot of what appears to be Samsung’s first Bada OS handset has leaked out via GSMHelpDesk. You can of course check it out above. No details, specs, pricing or anything else has been found, which leaves me wondering if this is real or not. Photoshop or not, what do you think? Stylish and sleek? Or are you one of the crowd that says ‘Who cares, show me the OS’!?

Show me the OS Samsung, show me the OS! Bada-Bing!
