Samsung is working on another Android-powered smartphone. It will be called Saturn i6500, and we know about that as it has recently got the WiFi interoperability certification (PDF link).
Details are scarce at the moment, but we do know it will come with WiFi connectivity feature. In addition, we could bet, once it’s released the Saturn will run the Android 2.0 Eclair and will most probably rely on an 800 MHz CPU. Moreover, it’s safe the specs sheet will include a GPS, HSPA radio, Bluetooth and a microSD memory card slot.
We’ve heard the Korean giant will launch the device at some point next year with estimated retail price of about 300 EUR, which is roughly $442. I’m guessing we’ll get all the details before or during the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which takes place in February. Stay tuned…
Existing and potential Sprint (NYSE: S) customers, this one’s for you. The CDMA/WiMAX carrier has started selling two new devices – Samsung Moment and Sanyo (OTCPK: SANYY) SCP-3810.
The first of the two we’ve already covered before – it’s an Android-powered, full QWERTY keyboard-equipped smartphone that prides itself with a 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED touchscreen, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with flash, and 800MHz CPU. Sprint is asking $179.99 for the Moment, with a contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
As for the other device, Sanyo SCP-3810, it’s a low-end clamshell with specs that include 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 1.3-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, web browser. The price is $0, with a contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate. The phone is available in two colors – Regal Red and Black Onyx.
India’s Airtel and Samsung are running a great campaign, offering three months of free data usage up to 100MB on select Samsung phones. Models included in the promotion are Corby S3653, Star (S5233), StarW, S5603, F480 and i8910. To activate and get the free data, interested Airtel customers should text “my data” to 543210, and take it from there.
I like the idea and I’m thinking – great marketing is like “something I don’t want to mention here” – you know it when you see it.
Electricpig.co.uk have got their hands on the second device to be launched under Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) UKs ‘360′ moniker. The Samsung M1 is the little brother of the H1 – but still packs a good wadge of features! How does 3G + 3MP camera + 3.2″ screen strike you?
Of course the main thing punting this device along is the Vodafone 360 software layer – which syncs in all your contacts from numerous social networks, along with IM and email.
Anyhow, check out the Electricpig.co.uk photo gallery from their time with the device here.
We don’t know pricing and timing yet, but let’s hope we find out soon enough!

While the new BlackBerry Bold will be coming to stores sometime in November, we’ve heard little in terms of specific dates. Well, unconfirmed rumours are pointing to November 16 on T-Mobile (NYSE: DT), matching AT&T (NYSE: T)’s $199.99 on-contract price point ($449.99 off contract). Rogers (NYSE: RCI) is looking like they’ll be ready sooner rather than later, but things are still hazy for Bell, telus (NYSE: TU), and AT&T. The same tipster also confirms earlier rumours that one of Samsung’s upcoming Android devices, the Behold II, will come out on T-Mo a short two days later, and retail for $249.99 on contract.
On the heels of the two successful all-touchscreen models – S5230 and S5600, Samsung is launching a similar phone marked as S5560.
The device looks pretty much like some other Samsung models, boasting such specs as 3-inch WQVGA display, quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity (no 3G), WiFi, 5-megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, standard 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD memory card slot.
And that’s about all we know at this stage. Plus the price, which should be bellow 300 EUR once it hits Europe next month…
It looks like the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) 8520 will be getting an update that includes 3G connectivity, according to an internal Verizon (NYSE: VZ) newsletter, but details are scarce, aside from what we already know about the 8500-series Curves having Wi-Fi. The Curve2 likely has something to do with the projects code-named Essex or Atlas, which were meant to be a companion to the Tour that would have Wi-Fi (and the Essex specifically having a trackpad). However, I think the overall assumption was that either one would still be packing the Tour form factor, complete with nicer screen and camera. In any case, for those hungry for a Wi-Fi-enabled CDMA BlackBerry and can’t stomach the Storm2’s SurePress or won’t wait for an updated Tour, the Curve2 will be their only option. To get a feel for what the device might feel like, check out our BlackBerry 8520 review – just tack on Wi-Fi and likely OS 5.0.
Samsung is preparing a new all-touchscreen phone for China Mobile (NYSE: CHL), which as you can see from the image above looks like some other Samsung models we’ve seen in the past.
The device name/mark is GT-i6330 and unfortunately we don’t have all the details at this stage. We do see a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back as well as a small camera for video calls on the front. That said, it’s safe to say this baby will run on TD-SCDMA waves, used by the world’s largest mobile operator.
Pricing and exact release date are unknown at this point, but considering we’re approaching the holiday shopping season, we would expect to see China Mobile starting to offer this baby within weeks.
