Contact UsSony dropped a teaser trailer of sorts for the Playstation 4 today on its blog and YouTube channel. The short video hints at the design of the latest Playstation, with several split second flashes of bits of the machine, shot from extreme close up angles. As far as I’m concerned the new Playstation will be a space station from a late 70′s sci-fi film, but I imagine seeing the total package all together will make a little more sense. Unfortunately, all we’ll get to see is a blurry black box … Read more
Something we’ve always admired about Sony is that it’s embraced AOSP for its devices more than many manufacturers around, and it’s adding another device to that list. Today on the Sony Blog, the company announced that the Xperia Tablet Z would be getting the AOSP treatment. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z, alongside the Xperia Z, now has access to a fully stock Android experience that should surely be enticing for those who love the hardware of the Tablet Z but favor vanilla Android. The build for the tablet is now … Read more
Sony’s upcoming Xperia UL smartphone has been caught in the wild on its way to Japan’s KDDI. Not all details are available at the moment, but we do know that this Sony handset will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, which is also used in the LG Optimus G Pro and some versions of Samsung’s Galaxy S4. In addition, the UL will also pack 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 2,300mAh battery and most likely mobile TV support so that busy Japanese can entertain themselves while on the … Read more
Big news for Playstation 3 racing fans, Gran Turismo 6 has been officially announced for the holiday season! About a month ago, a pre-order was caught on Newegg but Sony and Developer Polyphony Digital have remained mum up until today. Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi dropped the news at the United Kingdom’s Silverstone circuit (one of the tracks featured in the new title). The new game will feature improved graphics using a new, flexible rendering engine that features “adaptive tessellation”. As usual Polyphony is aiming for the ultimate in realistic auto handling, … Read more
Sony has officially announced the Xperia A in Japan where it will be sold by NTT DoCoMo, the country’s leading mobile operator. The device we’ve already seen at the FCC is a high-end Android 4.1 smartphone with specs that include a 4.6-inch 720p HD screen, LTE connectivity support, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 13-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one and a 2,300mAh battery. Of course, we would appreciate an even faster (newer) processor like Snapdragon 600, but I guess the lack of it will push the price down. In any … Read more
Sony’s new Xperia ZR handset is now official. It’s being marketed as a high-end smartphone with equally high-end water-resistent capabilities. Sony says it’ll allow you to “Experience filming underwater in Full HD.” It’s IP55 and IP58 compliant, which in addition to being waterproof means it’s also dustproof as well. Jumping into the main specs of the phone, the Xperia ZR features a 4.55-inch 720p HD OptiContrast display. The camera is a 13MP shooter with an Exmor RS sensor and 16x digital zoom. The device houses a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, … Read more
Up until this point Sony requested $99 from game developers looking to sell their games through PlayStation Mobile store. They’re now waiving that fee in an effort to attract more companies to publish games for PlayStation-certified devices like smartphones made by HTC and (obviously) Sony, as well as the PlayStation Vita. Sony also wants to get more end-users to use its dedicated game store rather than getting them [games] through Google Play Store, which at the moment counts quite a number of games, some of which are both awesome and … Read more
The day when you’ll be able to get Jelly Bean update for your Xperia S and Xperia SL is almost here. A new firmware version (6.2.B.0.200) for the Xperia S has just been certified by the PTCRB, and according to XperiaBlog – it’s a slightly tweaked version of the leaked build that appeared at the end of April. In other words, it look like Sony is making the final tweaks to the software and you may finally get your update in the next few days (or weeks). To make for … Read more
As if we needed any other proof that Sony is prepping a handful of new devices for the 2nd half of the year, we finally have a glimpse at the Xperia A (Dogo) to confirm at least one of the upcoming devices. The handset falls in line with the existing Xperia Z’s design language, featuring the large, centralized power/lock button. From the photos, you’ll also see that the device isn’t nearly as svelte as the Xperia Z. You won’t find a glass back on the Xperia A, but you will … Read more
Sony is apparently working on another mid-range smartphone which will likely be released by the end of the third quarter. Marked as CX190, it will come with an everything-but-impressive specs sheet and in that sense we tend to think it won’t break anyone’s bank. Back to the specs… It is said that this phone will boast Qualcomm’s dual-core Krait processor (MSM8627 or MSM8230), 1GB of RAM, 4-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display, 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p HD video recording, 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, while Android Jelly Bean … Read more
The Sony Xperia Z tablet just passed through FCC’s approval process and should now be on its way to T-Mobile. Usually in hardware that has cellular connectivity, many devices that are compatible with the carrier are also compatible with AT&T due to the similar band requirements. The Xperia Z tablet, however, just includes Band 4 which makes it pretty much exclusive to T-Mobile. Unless Sony makes a separate version with different network bands, once the Xperia Z makes its debut we’ll likely see it on T-Mo. The only task left … Read more
