Contact UsWith Google Editions for the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4 right around the corner, one might wonder where Sony could possibly fit into the picture. After all, Sony has supported the Android developer community by bringing AOSP to both the Xperia Z and Xperia Tablet Z. According to the latest rumors, we could see a Google Edition of the Sony Xperia Z in the near future. The guys over at AndroidGeeks have been tipped off that Sony and Google will indeed announce a Xperia Z Google Edition handset … Read more

At the moment Sony is only selling the Xperia ZL in the U.S. and it is available in its unlocked form, requiring no carrier contracts whatsoever. That, however, comes with a price not everyone is willing to pay. Things could change quickly with the company’s Kaz Hirai and Phil Molyneux saying that the “announcement about the Xperia Z with a carrier” will be out “very shortly.” Molyneux later added that this announcement will be made “within the coming weeks.” No names were given but “cues from the past” suggest that … Read more
Sony’s Kaz Hirai wants us all to be clear on one thing, the PS4 will be a gaming console first. In a minor dig at Microsoft‘s Xbox One, Hirai focused on Sony’s gaming first philosophy with the PS4. Hirai told reporters at the D11 conference today: “The most important thing we need to do is agree and understand that the PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers,” Hirai said. “If we miss that part, I don’t think we get the initial establishment of the console. … Read more
Whether or not you’ve ever been interested in the Sony PS Vita, it’s certainly going to receive a bit more value when the Playstation 4 arrives. Sony recently confirmed a report from EuroGamer that all Playstation 4 games must support the PS Vita Remote Play feature. Remote Play has been around for sometime, but it certainly hasn’t received the attention it deserves. With PS4 games requiring support for Remote Play, it will open up a greater library of games for the Vita to use, ultimately bringing more value to the … Read more
Sony’s latest flagship smartphones and tablet lineup is certainly the best we’ve seen from the company in a long time. We’ve seen some great videos that the Xperia Z can take from a trip to India, and much more from the new device, but Sony’s latest ads are — interesting. The two ads you see below have a focus on NFC, which isn’t terribly surprising. Sony has quite a few connected accessories that establish Bluetooth connections via NFC to make your life a little easier, all of which work very … Read more
The restroom is as much a part of life as the office or the kitchen, but it never seems to get the focus it deserves. There are strategy games out there for all manner of workplaces, from rail yards to roller coasters, airports to aquariums. But the humble restroom, a place we all visit daily, is always glossed over in the shuffle. “Where is Restroom Tycoon?” you might ask, “When can gamers get their hands on Toilet Titans or Legends of the Stall?” It’s like the gaming populace is banging on that door, … Read more
When Sony announced the new Sony Xperia ZR, it said that users will be able to get this water-proof smartphone in June. That date apparently doesn’t “work” for all countries, with some markets getting it few months afterwards. In fact, customers in the UK, Germany and France won’t be able to buy the ZR directly. At least not in June. In Northern Europe, we’re hearing that Sony’s baby will launch in July with a price tag of 479 EUR. According to Xperia Blog, this is the offer for folks living … Read more
Sony has started rolling out a small update for its Xperia ZL smartphone. Currently, it only affects unlocked units with carrier branded versions (sold in parts of Europe and Asia), most likely getting it shortly. There are no major changes included in the firmware version 10.1.1.A.1.253, though it brings improved battery life, user experience and software performance. In other words, it’s just Sony tweaking its own software to make it work better. Perhaps some bugs are fixed along the way, as well. Anyhow, if you do own the Xperia ZL, … Read more
Sony dropped a teaser trailer of sorts for the Playstation 4 today on its blog and YouTube channel. The short video hints at the design of the latest Playstation, with several split second flashes of bits of the machine, shot from extreme close up angles. As far as I’m concerned the new Playstation will be a space station from a late 70′s sci-fi film, but I imagine seeing the total package all together will make a little more sense. Unfortunately, all we’ll get to see is a blurry black box … Read more
Something we’ve always admired about Sony is that it’s embraced AOSP for its devices more than many manufacturers around, and it’s adding another device to that list. Today on the Sony Blog, the company announced that the Xperia Tablet Z would be getting the AOSP treatment. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z, alongside the Xperia Z, now has access to a fully stock Android experience that should surely be enticing for those who love the hardware of the Tablet Z but favor vanilla Android. The build for the tablet is now … Read more
