Earlier this week, MetroPCS announced that it would allow customers to bring their own GSM compatible devices to their network, a result of the migration of MetroPCS customers to T-Mobile’s LTE network. Today, MetroPCS announced that its customers can now use unlocked GSM devices on their network, which has been solely CDMA up until this point. Because of the recent merger of T-Mobile with MetroPCS, MetroPCS will be transitioning from its CDMA network to T-Mobile’s GSM network. SoftBank is apparently super-cereal to enter the U.S. mobile market – if it fails to acquire Sprint, the Japanese company will apparently go for the local branch of T-Mobile. Apple could be starting a trade-in program soon, according to a report from Bloomberg. The program would not only help Apple sell new handsets, but would increase the proliferation of Apple products to markets outside of the U.S., where demand for used Apple devices is high. T-Mobile is reportedly boosting the performance of its LTE network by adding more antennas soon, according to a report from GigaOM. T-Mobile will be utilizing 4×2 MIMO antenna technology to boost its network, which will double the number of antennas, as well as data transmission paths for LTE data. LG Optimus F7 is not only coming to Boost Mobile, but also to US Cellular, according to leaked company documents Engadget managed to snap. Announced alongside Optimus F5, the F7 is a solid mid-ranger with a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, LTE connectivity support, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera on the back (in addition to 1.3MP front-facing one). Well, this didn’t take long. After T-Mobile closed its deal in acquiring MetroPCS, the number four carrier in the United States wasted no time in unifying the two networks.
