Contact UsSony has officially announced the Xperia A in Japan where it will be sold by NTT DoCoMo, the country’s leading mobile operator. The device we’ve already seen at the FCC is a high-end Android 4.1 smartphone with specs that include a 4.6-inch 720p HD screen, LTE connectivity support, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 13-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one and a 2,300mAh battery. Of course, we would appreciate an even faster (newer) processor like Snapdragon 600, but I guess the lack of it will push the price down. In any … Read more
Google is ready to overhaul its desktop version of Google Maps and will likely show off its updated web app at I/O later today. A sign-up page for the new Google Maps went live last night for a few moments, and Droid-Life scoured all that they could find before Google took the page down. According to Droid Life, the new Google Maps will generate a “tailored map for every search and click you make.” This could be a custom or intelligent map generator that shows relevant information based on your … Read more

A sparkly, white Nexus 4 model was spotted in the wild again. Yesterday’s sighting in the Philippines definitely got us excited. Now the elusive white device has shown up at a conference in Dubai and it was caught on video this time! It’s got a sort of opalescent, reflecting white back, but the front is still black (which is probably disappointing for some folks, but it still looks quite nice). Otherwise it appears to be the same as the current Nexus 4 specs wise, and it was running an older version of Android … Read more

Japan’s SoftBank has announced the Sharp AQUOS 206SH, a fancy-lookin’ Android 4.2 smartphone with features that include a 5-inch full HD screen, Qualcomm’s quad-core processor and 13.1-megapixel camera. If you’re a developer looking to enter the mobile app market, you’re probably thinking to develop for iOS and Android first, and only later follow-up with an app for some other platform. But which of the two most popular mobile platforms to start with? While iOS is still a leading mobile OS, Android is quickly catching up, attracting user segments Apple isn’t capable of getting. Then again, that particular group of users (emerging markets) may not be the best bet for the app you’re making. Or is it? Few of … Read more
According to a report in AllThingsD, the Nexus Q won’t be mentioned in this week’s I/O developers conference. The Q was a media device that tied into Google Play and let users control playback with their Android smartphones. The black sphere had an attractive black matte design, but its $300 price tag and limited support for third-party services was its downfall. The device was unveiled at last year’s I/O conference and discontinued shortly after its introduction. When Google halted the consumer launch of the media device, it said it was … Read more
