Moreover, the rise of short and easily shared video clips, and the success that many streaming providers such as Netflix have achieved online also contribute to “something”…

According to Juniper Research, there will be more than 2 billion mobile TV and video viewers by 2017.

YouTube is preparing to make some money out of this trend (with its paid YouTube Channels) with Juniper’s report author Siân Rowlands predicting “incredible repercussions” throughout the mobile space given YouTube comes preinstalled on a large number of devices and Android’s billing options.

However, it’s unclear whether YouTube will be successful with this new monetization model. In 2011, similar paid channels were launched, but with very limited success…

Additional details about the report are available from Juniper’s website.

Mobile content revenues from handsets and tablets is expected to increase by nearly $25 billion over the next three years, Juniper Research says in its latest report. The $65 billion mark will be reached by 2016 with game, video and eBook purchases via tablet devices and Direct Carrier Billing on smartphones driving the growth.

At the moment, eBooks comprise the largest revenue stream on tablets, however tablets are experiencing a sharp increase in both paid and free video applications, while consumer gaming spend is expected to migrate to tablets from dedicated portable gaming devices such as the Nintendo 3DS and the Sony PS Vita.

At the same time existing Over-The-Top (OTT) mobile app stores are increasingly employing direct carrier billing as a complementary monetization mechanism, offering higher conversion rates and opportunities to monetize unbanked customers.

The report also says that music and video now account for nearly half of all mobile content revenues, presenting a problem for mobile network capacity.

Meanwhile, the convergence of the gaming and the social networking spaces has been one of the major drivers behind the post-download monetization opportunity…

A new report, commissioned by Associated Press and produced by Deloitte with research by GfK, says that video is increasingly important for online news services to consider offering their readers.

The findings suggest that 86% of British consumers access news online frequently, and 47% of these users watch video news clips on a regular basis. 85% of UK consumers believe video brings a news story to life, while 77% feel it improves their understanding of a story, suggesting that adding video to the news could result in a more informed and interested viewer.

While TV predominates as the first source for breaking news (41%), online is the key source for greater depth on a story, with 69% turning to their PC, smartphone or tablet.

In that sense, publishers (especially TV broadcasters) are advised that their online video news strategy shouldn’t simply replicate the editorial strategy for TV news, as it allows them to engage different types of viewers, particularly the young.

Deloitte (naturally) believes that consumption of video news online will increase over time, driven by the continuing spread of smartphones and tablets, as well as steadily increasing broadband speeds.

Tablet owners are especially enthusiastic consumers of video news online with 91% respondents in the UK saying they have watched a news video on a tablet…

Anyway, to download these wallpapers hop over to this link and download the RAR file. Then extract the archive, copy the files to your computer and take it from there… Hint: if you have problems, try using an app like Image 2 Wallpaper which is available from Google Play.

Wikipedia has been working to make its site even more accessible to users in emerging markets of the world. Their latest gig involves allowing anyone to access the site’s 25 million articles via SMS and/or USSD.

Funded by a $600,000 grant from the Knight Foundation, the new service will launch in the next few months, making the global knowledge more accessible than ever before. In order to access it, users will send a message to a predefined number (or type a USSD code on their phone), only to get an answer with content few minutes/seconds later.

The new effort joins another program Wikipedia launched in the second half of 2011 that allowed users to access the text version of the site for free. To make that happen, Wikimedia Foundation (which runs the Wikipedia site) has been partnering with carriers all around the world, most notably in Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa…
