In China Mobile, Devices, Motorola, Windows Mobile
Roughly 20 days ago we talked about the upcoming Moto-made Windows Mobile smartphone for China called A3300c. Well, it’s been confirmed by Chinese paper Sina, which says the official announcement is imminent.
As a reminder, we’re talking about an all-touchscreen device that prides itself with 3.2-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with flash, accelerometer, GPS, WiFi, and 3G. Since this baby will end up in China Mobile (NYSE: CHL)’s portfolio, that’s Chinese flavor of 3G aka TD-SCDMA.
Finally, before I let you go, we have three photos of the Moto A3300c to share. Here they come.

In Devices, Samsung

Samsung has a new device for its domestic market. It’s the 12.2mm-thin mid-range slider SCH-B890, which also prides itself with a 2.8-inch QVGA AMOLED screen that we’re certain makes anything displayed on it look great. Rest of the specs include 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, EV-DO 3G, S-DMB mobile TV, Bluetooth, 800mAh battery and we guess a microSD memory card slot. As for the pre-installed software, there’s a media player, e-Dictionary, Subway Map, SOS function and some SPAM blocking app. No word on pricing nor whether this baby will ever leave shores of Korean peninsula…

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) doesn’t give up on its older phone models and it’s a good thing. On that note, the Finnish giant unveiled the latest update for its N85 handset. Three of us — Will, Simon and I — had these babies at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, earlier this year, where we use them to instantly share photos with IntoMobile audience.
Anyway, the update packs two important things: USB charging is improved, and once you update you’ll also find that Contacts include Ovi features that allow you to locate your friends and receive updates on what they are doing. You can also chat with your friends and share your favorite places with them. In addition, I assume some of the bugs have been fixed and the phone is now more stable as a result.
To update, simply type *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select “Options” > “Check for updates” and follow the on screen prompts. Alternatively, you can do the same thing through the Nokia Software Updater. As usual, we advise you to backup your phone prior to pushing the trigger…

In Android, Devices, Rumors, Sony Ericsson
It’s easy to create a super badass mobile phone when you’re working in the world of rainbows and wishes conceptual devices. Take this Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) XPERIA X5 Concept for example. Esato user tob!s created the XPERIA X5 (codename: Nadine) Concept as the successor to the Android-powered Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3. Nevermind that the X3 is still just a rumor and we have yet to see the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 (Vulcan) go live.
As far as concepts go, this one is pretty tame. The XPERIA X5 Nadine is spec’d out with a futuristic QWERTY slider, 3.5-inch touchscreen, 12-megapixel camera (with auto-focus and Xenon flash), HD video recording and access to Sony Ericsson’s App Store – all features that could possibly make an appearance in an XPERIA smartphone a year or so down the line. tob!s even took the time to Photoshop a few different color variants – Chrome Silver, Ocean Blue and Sunny Orange.
For now, we have our sights set on the SE XPERIA X2, which may go live soon!

Samsung’s solar-powered all-touchscreen handset Blue Earth, which we’ve seen handled “in the wild,” got a release date. It’s set for October, when all the friends of the Earth will be able to grab it for… well, we don’t know the price. Moreover, we also don’t have the list of carrier partners, but I’m sure operators around the globe will be eager to add it to their respective portfolios to show the world just how green (or that’s blue?) they are. We do, however, know this baby is perfect for super sunny areas such as California, Spain, parts of Italy and France, and so on. And the TouchWIZ makes the experience great…

In Devices, Windows Mobile

The little known Czech company called Mivvy has launched its first Windows Mobile smartphone called Mivvy one. It’s the all-touchscreen device with features that include EDGE data, WiFi, GPS, 3.2-inch 240×400 pixels display, 3-megapixel camera, FM Radio, 128 MB RAM coupled with 256 MB ROM, 624 MHz Marvell PXA300 CPU, and a microSD memory card slot. Size wise, the Mivvy one measures 105×56x12.9 mm and has a weight of 120 grams.
What’s interesting about it is the fact that Mivvy used its own UI rather than WinMo’s generic one, in an effort to make the device easier to use. It’s interesting because this usually happens with larger handset makers, and it’s good to see smaller players taking this route, too.
As for the price and release date, the Mivvy one will start selling soon in the Czech Republic, where interested folks will be able to grab it for 6699 CZK, which is about $380.
Earlier this year, Mivvy launched three dual-SIM feature phones…

In Devices, MetroPCS, Samsung

Just as we expected, MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS) has started selling the Samsung Messager successor simply called Messager II, model SCH-R560. We’re talking about the same kind of device that prides itself with both numeric keypad and full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which is therefore ideal for heavy texters. Of course, the updated model is bit slicker and also packs EV-DO connectivity support, as well as the better camera (2-megapixel as opposed to 1.3-megapixel of the original Messager) that can also take videos now. All this could be yours for $149 sans any MetroPCS contracts signed.
For the record, the Samsung Messager II is already available in Canada some time now, where we spotted two carriers offering the phone as the Samsung Vice.

After we caught the press shot of the N900 Rover, photo of another upcoming Nokia (NYSE: NOK) device found its way to the Interwebs. It’s the already-previewed, approved-by-the-FCC – Nokia N97 Mini! Nokia World is coming within a week when we’ll have much more to report about it. In the meantime, a bit larger image is available from here…

Low-end music slider Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) W205 is now available in two additional colors: Sakura Pink and Windy Blue. Again we haven’t caught this information from Sony Ericsson, but from SEMC blog, which follows the Swedish-Japanese company like no other site does.
The newly colored W205 Walkman phones will be available in select markets only, so if you’re interested you should check your local Sony Ericsson website.
Specs wise, the W205 comes with a 1.8-inch 128×160 pixels screen, Walkman 2.0 software, 1.3 megapixel camera, and Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot. It measures 92×47x16.4 mm, and has a weight of 96 grams.

In Devices, Hottest Hardware, Rumors, Samsung, Verizon, Windows Mobile

The wait for the next-gen Samsung Omnia II is almost over! In fact, Boy Genius Report believes that much of Verizon (NYSE: VZ)’s Omnia II inventory is stacked up and ready to go. And, according to Samsung Mobile USA’s website (screenshot above), the Omnia II will be “coming soon exclusively at Verizon Wireless.” All signs point to a very near-term release of the Omnia successor.
Like any good smartphone successor, the Omnia II packs a bigger punch than its forebear – in this case, with a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen (badass!), tri-band HSPA (900/1900/2100 MHz), WiFi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, and 800 MHz ARM processor. Thankfully, the Windows Mobile underpinnings will be hidden under Samsung’s TouchWIZ UI.
Sign up on Samsung’s email list if you’d like a heads-up on when the Omnia II goes live.
