Phoenix Suns, Samsung team to bring tablets to NBA

There are two things I really dig: mobile technology and the National Basketball Association. That’s why it’s very cool to see the Phoenix Suns, Samsung and Verizon Wireless teaming up to bring Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets to the game. These 4G LTE-enabled tablets will be used throughout the Suns’ operation. This will include workers at the game showing perspective clients interactive views of their game seats and you could easily see kiosks or retailers in the arena using these to jazz up displays. It’s not just the business side Read more

Hands-on Preview: Mass Effect Infiltrator for iOS

EA is getting set to release one of 2012′s most highly anticipated games, Mass Effect 3, on March 6th. They will already dominate the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 scene when the game is released, and they may also dominate your iOS device when Mass Effect Infiltrator is released on March 6th, too. During an EA press event yesterday, I got some hands-on time with their upcoming Mass Effect iOS offering. Mass Effect Infiltrator isn’t another Mass Effect Galaxy which ended up not being a very successful mobile title for BioWare. Read more

Even though it broke up with Ericsson, Sony plans to keep using the Xperia brand and has already announced first Sony-only-branded products at the CES – Sony Xperia ion and Sony Xperia S. LG is teasing us with a new, still unannounced device. Called Optimus Vu, it’s an Android smartphone with a huge 5-inch screen. However, there’s something special about that screen – it has a 4:3 aspect ratio which is kinda strange, prompting us to think about compatibility and how many of the existing apps will render on such a device. Aside from that screen, this bad boy will also comes with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm APQ8060 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB ROM, NFC, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread will Read more

Staples unveils tablet website, launches Android app

After the iPhone app, Staples is going for the Android community and folks with tablets (whether it’s an Android-based one or the iPad). To that end, the company launched a native app for smartphones running Google’s mobile platform and a tablet-optimized website. First the smartphone app. As you can imagine, it puts Staples inventory at your fingertips, mixing the best of the Staples.com and in-store shopping experience. You can access the “rich product information” all with ratings and reviews while in-store, or find the nearest Staples store with the specific Read more

Samsung offers Modern Combat 3 free for Galaxy S II users

Like an extra incentive is needed to get the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Korean company keeps offering some free content to its users. Their latest gig involves giving away Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation through Samsung Apps store. That said, this may be Sammy’s way to trick users into tapping the Samsung Apps icon on their smartphones. Honestly, I can’t recall when was the last time I opened it and I guess in that sense (presuming Samsung wants to have more users of its app store) – offering freebies Read more

Yahoo launches its own app search engine

Yahoo thinks there’s money to be made in app recommendations, hence they’re using the power of its brand to make it easier for smartphone users to discover new applications. The newly launched Yahoo! First impressions of Chrome Beta for Android – Looks to be worth the wait

We’ve been tinkering around with the new Chrome Beta for a couple of hours now and we’re definitely impressed to see that Google has provided a slick browser that’s also easy on the eyes. Even in beta form, we can imagine that most people who try Chrome for Android will probably stick with it. We’re glad that Google realized that functionality can look good. The introduction of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was the first time we saw Google really hone in on the user experience for its mobile operating Read more
