YouMail is back in Android Market, T-Mobile isn’t to blame

YouMail has returned to the Android Market after previously being yanked out because of a T-Mobile complaint. While there were some concerns about why it was pulled, it turns out the story is more complicated than maybe YouMail was trying to portray it. Yesterday we reported that the app had been removed because T-Mobile said it was causing “adverse network disruption.” YouMail CEO Alex Quilici was nothing short of frustrated and he decided to let all of his anger out on YouMail’s Tumblr blog. He claimed T-Mobile never got in Read more

Starbucks exceeds 26 million mobile transactions!

Starbucks is killing it with mobile payments. The coffee chain can’t and don’t want to wait for the promises of NFC-based contactless payments and is using its own mobile app instead to make things happen. And its customers obviously love the idea, with some 26 million transactions conducted since the service launched nearly a year ago. At the moment, coffee drinkers can pay for their drink (and snacks presuming they fancy so) at more than 9,000 U.S. locations, with more locations coming next year. Although it’s still (at least officially) limited to the Sprint’s Nexus S 4G users only, Google keeps expanding its Google Wallet service. The latest move comes from Cantaloupe Systems (technology provider for vending machines) and First Data (payment processing company which is a Google Wallet partner), which have integrated Google’s contactless payment service into 6,000 of its 80,000 vending machines across New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and D.C. metropolitan areas. Of course, that’s just a start, with additional vending machines to get the capability in the near future. At the Read more
