Pelican Imaging gets fresh money from Nokia and Qualcomm; Nokia super-camera-phone coming soon?

Pelican Imaging, the company that makes unique array camera technology, has recently raised $20 million in additional funding from a number of investors including Qualcomm and Nokia. Moreover, the company has also confirmed that it is in talks with an unnamed handset manufacturer to deploy its lens-array. All said, we’re not surprised that folks all around the Interwebs are speculating that the “unnamed handset maker” could be Nokia. Fujitsu develops technology that uses camera phone to monitor blood pulse

Fujitsu Laboratories developed a technology that can measure a person’s pulse in real time using a camera phone, or any other digital camera. The magic happens by measuring variations in the brightness of the person’s face thought to be caused by the flow of blood. It is based on the characteristic of hemoglobin in blood, which absorbs green light without requiring any special hardware. LG Brings Eye Recognition, Dual Camera To The Optimus G Pro

LG is beating Samsung to the punch with eye recognition technology by announcing today that its new technology will be appearing soon on the Optimus G Pro. The new feature, called Smart Video, automatically plays and stops video without any manual input from the user, by tracking the user’s eye movements.
