Sprint is finally beginning to phase out its less attractive half, Nextel, as the company enters the first stage of transitioning customers off its iDEN cell towers. This is something we’ve known since late 2011, and it’s an important part to Sprint’s “Network Vision.” The third largest wireless provider plans to shut … Read more

The LG Spectrum is now available for Verizon and we’ll review this 4G LTE smartphone soon but we wanted to give you a few pictures of the unboxing and give some initial impressions. Fundamentally, the LG Spectrum isn’t much different than the LG Nitro on AT&T and that’s not necessarily a bad thing because both phones are packed with power. The LG Spectrum has a few different design tweaks but it still packs a large 4.5-inch True HD IPS display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and … Read more

Verizon just announced that its 4G LTE network is getting lit up in five new markets and expanding to three others on Jan. 19. The largest carrier in the United States has big plans for its 4G network, which includes all of its future smartphones to feature LTE starting this year. But in order for this to be a success the company has to first get a grasp of the network, because having random LTE outages nationally doesn’t help things. New areas to recieve Verizon’s LTE network: Glens Falls, N.Y. … Read more
Only a few handsets were announced for Verizon at CES this year but that didn’t keep Big Red from having quite the booth. While the products and services on display may not be the biggest interests to our readers, the concept of the booth was. In the middle (core) of the booth was a clear … Read more
While the Galaxy Nexus will likely steal most of the thunder when it comes to Sprint’s new LTE handsets, we definitely haven’t forgotten about LG’s offering for the network, the Viper LTE. We got a little time with the handset during a Sprint event at the Venetian, so read on to get the rundown. While the Viper LTE isn’t underpowered by any means we would be surprised if it came in with the same price tag as the Galaxy Nexus.
