T-Mobile held its Un-carrier press event today and confirmed that it is ready to roll out its LTE network starting today in seven launch markets. The lucky seven includes Las Vegas, NV; Phoenix, AZ; San Jose, CA; Houston, TX; Washington DC; Kansas City, MO and Baltimore, MD. T-Mobile expects to reach 100 million customers by mid year and 200 million by the end of 2013. Along with its new LTE network, T-Mobile also announced two devices that’ll support the company’s new 4G LTE network. Besides the high-profile BlackBerry Z10, the carrier will also sell the Sonic 2.0 mobile hotspot. T-Mobile’s LTE service has been detected in 8 new locations today, according to PCMag. OpenSignal, a crowd sourced Android app, has reported that LTE is now functioning in Denver, Las Vegas, Kansas City, New York, New Orleans, San Diego, San Jose and Seattle. T-Mobile has declared it would roll out LTE service, but without details as to where and when. Fujitsu Laboratories developed a technology that can measure a person’s pulse in real time using a camera phone, or any other digital camera. The magic happens by measuring variations in the brightness of the person’s face thought to be caused by the flow of blood. T-Mobile Galaxy Note II users will soon be receiving an over the air update that will enable LTE support for the popular phablet device. LG is beating Samsung to the punch with eye recognition technology by announcing today that its new technology will be appearing soon on the Optimus G Pro. The new feature, called Smart Video, automatically plays and stops video without any manual input from the user, by tracking the user’s eye movements. The front camera can detect a user’s gaze, and stop video playback when a user looks away, and start it again when they look back. Canada’s Bell Mobility keeps expanding its LTE networks and their next target are 3 regions in Alberta, New Brunswick and Quebec. The information comes from an internal document acquired by the MobileSyrup ninjas, though the carrier’s website still doesn’t reflect this expansion. That, however, doesn’t mean customers living (or visiting) Anzac in Alberta, St. John in New Brunswick and Saint Tite in Quebec won’t see the change. The FCC has ruled that the proposed merger between MetroPCS and T-Mobile is a go today, ending months of speculation and negotiation. The merger represents a great opportunity for T-Mobile, as it gives the company a chance to expand its LTE services.
