Unfortunately, all we’ll get to see is a blurry black box until Sony’s big reveal at E3, 6pm Pacific time on June 10th. I know I’ll be watching, will you?

Toronto Creative Agency Playground Inc. released a concept video this week that shows off their ideas of what the next iteration of Google Glass could look like. While a sophomore version of Glass is, at very least, a long way off, it’s fun to imagine the potential for the future of the wearable tech.

There are definitely some great ideas in this video, most of which seem like they wouldn’t be too far-fetched for the current hardware if tethered to a phone. In fact, a lot of the features in this video have more to do with Glass becoming widespread and lots of companies and services using it’s APIs. While the likelihood of that happening is debatable, this video shows a world where Glass is commonly used.

But there are definitely some things that seem pretty strange in the video. For starters, I do not approve of the wearing glass while riding your bike. It’s a great way to get hit by a car, run over a gerbil or just look like a giant …..Glasshole.

By now, you’ve probably seen at least one ad for the HTC One, the company’s latest and best flagship device to date. Simply put, the HTC One is the best phone on the market at the moment with its combination of power, beautiful design, and amazing build quality. But HTC wants to remind you about one of the best Software features on the device: Blinkfeed.

The ad below depicts non-HTC One users “digging” through their phones to find the content they are looking for, with piles of dirt falling at their feet. With Blinkfeed, Facebook, Twitter, and news feeds are all found in one stream that you can customize to your liking. This unified system allows HTC One users to keep all of the important content they care about in one place.

Blinkfeed itself is a staple of the new Sense 5, so we’re not surprised to see its own ad. Then again, this could also be an ad against Samsung’s Galaxy S 4, which ships with several new software features as the main focus and appeal of the device.

Check out the ad below and tell us what you think. Blinkfeed is great for what it is, and it is a decent selling point, but we think picking the phone up and feeling just how awesome this phone feels in the hand is what’s going to seal the deal.

The folks at SimplyZesty, which is self-described as a “full service digital agency,” have designed a rather nice new iOS 7 concept. It seems overall very polished and does have some credibility to it. They based the concept off of the report that the redesign of iOS 7 would have a new, “flatter” looking user interface somewhat similar to Windows Phone.

The concept redesigns pretty much every app, including the icons. The Music app in particular stands out to me because it looks like something you could definitely see on Windows Phone. It’s still nicely done though. Like this app, many others depart from the tendency toward a dark theme in favor of mostly white. This is apparent on the lock screen and Siri as well.

Also included here is a new pull-down menu combining widgets as well as the Notification Center. I couldn’t help but notice that the icons used to show weather conditions are almost identical to that of the Conditions weather app in the App Store, which is an interesting. I’m not sure if that’s on purpose, but it actually pairs well.

Overall it’s quite nice. I’m sure by now you want to stop reading my take and see the video demoing the iOS 7 concept for yourself, so check it out below. Be sure to leave a comment underneath with your opinions on this fresh idea of iOS 7 compared to previous concepts.

A new video prank by ImprovEverywhere hits on one of the most annoying and dangerous developments associated with the rise of the smartphone; clueless looking pedestrians staring at their devices as they navigate city streets. Sure, it can be annoying trying to dodge seemingly clueless people, but we are all guilty of this behavior. And this would be a great service if it were a reality.

The prank pokes fun at this behavior, depicting fake New York City municipal workers employed as “Seeing Eye People” who guide clueless smartphone distracted pedestrians around the bustling city. After the performance, the “Seeing Eye People” actually provided the service for some real New Yorkers.

So check out the videos below, and if you feel like this could be tangible public service, write your congressman or head down to some City Hall meetings and get this service going! All joking aside, there are real dangers in texting / smartphone staring when in crowded and busy areas, especially when cars are around. Stay safe!

The results may sound a bit obvious given the build materials on each device, but the results are given through some rather extreme tests. Chances are that if you accidentally drop either of these phones out of your pocket that they will still be able to hold their own, but hopefully you don’t go testing this out for yourself.

Both devices were tested by dropping at pocket and chest height, with the third drop above the test conductor’s head, reaching a little more than 7 feet in the air.

At the end of the tests, Apple’s iPhone 5 escaped without too many dramatic blemishes, where the Galaxy S 4 met the plastic phone gods. We can only hope to see a sturdier Android phone, like the HTC One gets pitted against the very solid iPhone 5 next time.

Microsoft has created what I consider a brilliant new Windows Phone ad that tells Apple and Samsung followers to stop arguing with each other all the time. It’s true that the Android vs. iOS battle has evolved nowadays into an Apple vs. Samsung battle. Microsoft says, “Don’t fight. Switch.” and just buy a Windows Phone handset instead.

The ad takes place at a wedding. The groom’s side of the wedding all own Galaxy phones and the bride’s side all have iPhones. When someone with a Galaxy phone takes a picture, an iPhone user on the other side makes a snarky comment about how big it is. They start going back and forth until everyone at the wedding is throwing fists. Two people who seem to be working at the wedding stand calmly together as they use their Nokia Lumia 920 phones.

It’s not very often you hear the terms “Microsoft” and “brilliant new advertisement” together in one sentence, but this Windows Phone ad is really just quite well done. It gives off a good impression that Windows Phone is superior while all the inferior little brats argue, so to speak. I’m reminded of the “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” episode of the Twilight Zone when the humans destroy themselves with their own fighting and finger-pointing while the aliens end up getting to sit back and watch effortlessly.

But enough chit chat. You can watch the Windows Phone ad in its entirety right here.

Well, um… I guess… Okay, I’m not really entirely sure how to critique HTC’s new ad for the HTC One. It aims to be 3 minutes and 48 seconds of the show Bachelorette but instead of choosing a man, the woman is trying to choose a phone. In the end, that phone is obviously the One. Ha — I guess you could say it’s the One for her. Puns are always a great addition to any news article.

Anyway, all the other phones are humans dressed up in crappy costumes. She goes on dates with them and they have brief interviews, but she’s never satisfied. That is until she starts using the HTC One in her kitchen and says weird things customers would probably never say like “I need to get a Zoe of this!” The camera feature is admittedly pretty cool though.

HTC is attempting to compete with the likes of Samsung’s intense advertising, which is a lot of what got the Galaxy line to where it is today. Perhaps, HTC, maybe consider taking a more traditional approach to advertising. The Bachelorette theme isn’t all that bad — I got a couple chuckles out of it. There’s a difference between being unique and just plain weird, though.

I’ll let you decide for yourself which one the HTC One ad is. You can watch it in its entirety courtesy of Funny or Die below.

Ingress may still remain in closed beta at the moment, but the following behind the augmented reality game has anything but stagnated. With more “agents” invited every day, Niantic and Google are doing a fine job with the progression of the story. That said, it’s easy to get lost in the story due to the many layers, so that’s why something like the Ingress Report should serve you well.

The Niantic Project website is updated daily, adding another piece of information that contributes to the incredibly intricate and multi-layered storyline. The Ingress Report is a bit different, but players of the game should enjoy what they see.

The faux news report covers the “discovery” of Exotic Matter, the trans-dimensional energy that Ingress players are fighting to control. You’ll also see interviews with players from around the world, and other geeky fun. This is the first in a new series of “reports” from Niantic, which should be a nice treat for players and those patiently awaiting their invites.

We may still have some time until Ingress leaves beta status, but one thing is for sure: This geeky game will continue to gain traction. Ingress itself may dance around the “painfully geek” point, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to play.

If you’re interested in playing Ingress, and still haven’t requested an invite, you can do so here. You may also still be able to score an invite through an existing player that’s level 6 or higher. Last week, one invite was given to L6+ to recruit new agents.

Watch the Ingress Report below, and happy hacking!
