Nokia E75 coming in white

While all eyes are on the newly announced Nokia E72, the Finnish giant’s other model, E75, is also a cool QWERTY keyboard-equipped smartphone, worth considering buying. Just recently, it has been spotted in white at the Eseries Social Media meetup, where Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s Director of Eseries Marketing in Americas carried it around. Unfortunately, he hasn’t unveiled the release date — he just said “It’s coming”.

That’s good enough in my book, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the white E75 hitting store shelves within weeks. Otherwise, people may decide to wait for the E72, which is a cooler device, as far as I’m concerned.

Nokia E72 officially announced!

Just when we saw that leaked video of Nokia E72, the Finnish giant decided to push the button and announce the new device to the world. My initial impression is – WOW! It seems that the E72 fixes all the “problems” (if I could call them problems at all) of its predecessor – E71, and it even looks better.

Here’s what’s improved in the E72 when compared to the E71:

5 megapixel camera as opposed to E71’s 3.2 megapixels
standard 3.5mm audio jack as opposed to 2.5mm
new version of Quickoffice which can sing along Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Office 2007 files
I also guess the E72 runs Symbian S60 3.2 (Feature pack 2) like AT&T (NYSE: T)’s E71x — E71 runs S60 3.1
slightly improved keyboard, like the one found on the E63

Rest of the specs seem identical — we still wait for Forum Nokia (NYSE: NOK) to include the E72 in their list of devices when we’ll have all the specs — and include a GPS, WiFi, HSPA, Bluetooth, QVGA screen… you name it.

The Nokia E72 is expected to begin shipping in late Q3 2009 at an estimated retail price of 350 EUR before taxes and subsidies.

Update: Stefan here, Dusan is traveling today, and it looks like Forum Nokia finally uploaded the E72 to their website! It’s also on Nokia’s consumer website; not to mention Nokia’s Press site uploaded the datasheet (PDF file). Here are the highlights:

Nokia E75, E90 Communicator updated

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has updated two of its QWERTY keyboard-equipped smartphones – the E75 and E90 Communicator.

We’ve no official change logs, but we do know the usual thing – once the firmware is upgraded, devices are faster and more stable, some apps are updated, new features are on board, and so on. For the E75, we know there are several email improvements in setup process, connection reliability, readability; and automatic lookup is added to Contacts.

With the update, Nokia E75’s firmware reaches version 110.48.125, and E90’s – 400.34.93.

To update your device, simply start Nokia Software Updater, follow instructions provided on the screen and that’s it. Make sure to backup your data prior to pushing the trigger!

Nokia E75 NAM available in Nokia’s U.S. Flagship Stores

The North American version of the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E75 — the one that sings along AT&T (NYSE: T)’s and Rogers (NYSE: RCI) Wireless’ 3G networks — is now available in Nokia’s Flagship Stores in the U.S. Actually, Ricky Cadden says he got the word the Chicago store has the devices in stock, but we presume the same happened with the New York City store.

As for the pricing, you should know the Nokia E75 is far from a cheap device. Unlocked, without any strings attached, it costs $529.99, though we guess the price will go down in the coming weeks. Moreover, now that we’ve seen the E71x being offered by AT&T, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the same happening with the E75, when you’ll be able to grab the device for way less, on a contract… This is not to say we have any inside information, please note.

Nokia E52 unveiled; Super thin body and excellent battery life!

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has unveiled a new member to its ESeries range of devices – E52. The super-slim Symbian S60 smartphone prides itself with excellent battery life, promising to deliver up to eight hours of talk time and standby time in excess of 23 days! As you can see from the image above, you could think of it as the E75 without the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Rest of the specs include 3.2 megapixel camera, HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA) connectivity, A-GPS and compass, 2.4-inch QVGA screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a microSD memory card slot.

The Nokia E52 is set to start selling in the second half of the year, when interested users will be able to grab it in either golden aluminium or metal grey aluminium for 245 EUR, before taxes or subsidies. In the box, buyers get a 1GB microSD card alongside a free 60 day trial of File on Ovi…

Nokia E63 goes black!

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E63 emerged in black color, joining its blue and red brothers. The newly colored device was found on Nokia Europe’s E63 page, but we’re not sure where you will be able to grab it.

The way I see it, it’s only natural to offer the E63 (and virtually any other device) in black, since many users prefer black color for their phones. In that sense, I’m not sure why it wasn’t offered initially. Maybe the idea was to get additional exposure in media long after the phone has been released. If that’s the case – Nokia succeeded, big time.

Nokia E71i with 5 megapixel camera and Feature pack 2 in works?

File this under “rumors” as it doesn’t come from any official source. Rather it’s eldarmurtazin’s journal where the information was initially leaked. The rumor is that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is working on the improved version of its highly popular E71 smartphone. Apparently, the successor to the device will be called E71i and will come with a better 5 megapixel camera (E71’s camera is 3.2 megapixel) and Feature pack 2 (Symbian S60 3.2), just like the American version – E71x.

The way I see it, Nokia would be foolish not to bank on the success of the E71, and considering that they’re already selling the device with Feature pack 2 through AT&T (NYSE: T), why not bring the same love elsewhere. Add 5 megapixel camera sensor in the mix, too, and yet again the Finnish giant will have a winner. We’ll be certainly watching where this goes…

Hear that? The almighty Nokia E71x for AT&T is available for a single cent on Amazon! Sure a contract is required, but that’s also the case if you opt to buy it for hundred bucks. Let me make this clear – Amazon’s offering will save you (at least initially) 99 bucks and 98 cents! Is it a bargain or what?

With this kind of deals Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has a chance to re-enter the U.S. mobile phone market in a proper way. If the same happens to the E75 — i.e. it also starts selling through AT&T (NYSE: T) and ends up selling on Amazon for a buck or so — we may see the Finnish giant emerging with a decent U.S. market share after the recession. Sure, other handset makers aren’t sleeping as well, but you get the point. Here’s a link to the Amazon’s page with this super cool offer.

The plug-in is ready, waiting for Mac users at Nokia’s website. Now they (I’m a PC ) can make their QWERTY keyboard equipped smartphone sync contacts, calendars and other information with the one computer they love. And they love it so much, right?

Nokia E75 starts shipping

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced that its long time awaited E75 handset has started shipping, as of today. Unfortunately, we don’t have the release dates at this stage, but we do know one thing — the both numeric keypad and QWERTY keyboard equipped S60 smartphone is set to be an instant hit for the Finnish giant. Existing S60 users and smartphone newbies, alike, should dig the device thanks to such features as instant sharing functionality (Nokia’s Ovi service) and powerful email handling capability (Nokia Messaging). In addition, apps and services such as Nokia Maps and Webkit-based S60 browser should further entice users to jump on board. Then there’s WiFi, HSDPA, 3.2 megapixel camera… you name it. Look for the Nokia E75 at your phone dealer within a week or two. I wouldn’t expect it to take longer than that. Actually, that’s in case you’re Europe based…

Nokia unveils two new ESeries devices – E55 and E75

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) added two new members to its ESeries family of devices – E55 and the “one we knew is coming” – E75. Specs wise we’re talking about very similar (i.e. same) device, which pride themselves with 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS receiver, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 2.4-inch screen, and Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature pack 2.

The only difference is in the keyboard. While the E75 comes with both full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad, the E55 has some kind of SureType keyboard (they call it “compact QWERTY keyboard”). Naturally, this reflects on the size of the device, hence thanks to its slider mechanism the E75 is much thicker than the E55. More specifically, the Nokia E55 measures 116.5×49x9.9 mm and has a weight of 95 grams. On the other hand, the E75 has dimensions of 111.8×501x14.4 mm and weighs 139 grams.

The Nokia E75 is expected to ship in March at an estimated retail price of 375 EUR. On the other hand, the super-thin E55 will start shipping in Q2 2009 at an estimated retail price will be 265 EUR, before taxes and subsidies…

Nokia E75 leaked yet again just in time for the Mobile World Congress

Again and again we see the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E75 caught in the wild. This time the source is a Vietnamese website, whose owners obviously had some intimate time with the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard-equipped smartphone. We already know most of the specs, but it’s worth repeating, nonetheless.

Aside from packing both numeric keypad and full QWERTY keyboard, the 14.4mm-thick device boasts WiFi support, aGPS, 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 3G radio, 3.2 megapixel camera, standard 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD memory card slot. Release date is still unknown but I guess it’s a safe bet we’ll see it officially announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona… Few more shots are in the gallery bellow.

Nokia E63 NAM hits U.S. Nokia Flagship Stores

Just as we’ve expected — after seeing it passing the FCC hurdle and officially announced for the U.S. market — the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E63 NAM is now available for purchase in Nokia Flagship Stores. Actually, according to SymbianGuru, the blue model is seen in Nokia’s Chicago store, with the red version expected to land soon. No word for New York City, but I guess you can grab it there as well.

The price is $279.99 before tax which is a solid deal, considering you’ll get great full QWERTY keyboard-equipped Symbian S60-powered smartphone. Although it lacks GPS receiver, the E63 comes with WiFi, 3G, as well as a standard 3.5mm audio jack…

Nokia shows off Nokia E71 in Red and Black for Europe

It looks like Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has pulled the trigger on the All-Black and Red-on-Chrome Nokia E71 variants that we spied late last year at Nokia World 2008. The Nokia E71 leads a double life as a productivity tool for the enterprise market during the day, and a sexy QWERTY smartphone outside corporate environs. The launch of the two new color options for the Nokia E71 highlights the handset’s more-fun-less-business persona.

The Nokia Europe website now shows the Nokia E71 clearly listed as available in White, Silver, Black and Red. Unfortunately for Nokia fans in North America, the Red and Black Nokia E71 variants aren’t up to speed with “NAM” frequency support – the new color offerings are going to be available in Europe until Nokia decides to grace us Yanks with NAM-flavored variants.

We believe the Red and Black Nokia E71 is indeed headed to Yankee shores. The recently released software update for the Nokia E71 (both European and NAM variants) features new themes color-matched to the new Black and Red color options. Of course, we can’t be sure until we get official word out of Espoo.

Nokia E71x for AT&T will run S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2?

By now we’re quite confident AT&T (NYSE: T) will add the Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s popular E71 smartphone to its portfolio. However, we were surprised to see the screenshots above, nonetheless. They were taken by HowardForums member “bimmerd00d,” who purchased the E71x from Craigslist.

Apparently, just like some other Nokia models like the N78 and N96, AT&T’s version of the E71 will run the Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, rather than Feature Pack 1 that is found in existing E71 models around the world.

Among the improvements of the Feature Pack 2 are redesigned Active Standby, screen transitions that make the interface look nicer, new Device Manager, as well as support for Destinations, which is somewhat of an access point prioritization feature.

Nothing is confirmed at this stage by neither Nokia nor AT&T. We can only hope this is true for one good reason – if AT&T users can get the Feature Pack 2 powered E71, we hope Nokia will release the FP2 update for existing E71 owners, who still have to cope with the Feature Pack 1. This is not to say anything’s wrong with the “standard” E71 – it’s just to say that we would love to get our hands on the even better Nokia E71, all in its Feature Pack 2 glory.

With a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard mated to a traditional numeric keypad, the Nokia E75 is poised to expand Nokia’s reach in the business-class smartphone segment. And, today’s latest Nokia E75 leak tells us that Nokia must be close to bringing their latest Eseries device to life.

Nokia E71 gets a firmware update!

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has released a major firmware update for its popular E71 smartphone for EURO region, with other regions to follow in the near future.

As expected with any firmware upgrade, version 200.21.188 brings a number of stability and functionality updates and also packs other things, including:

Internet Radio and My Nokia applications
Two new themes
A number of usability improvements
Improved WLAN support (stability and roaming)
More power efficient 3G
Improved camera performance

Nokia to start the Nokia E71 Beautiful Connections campaign

In order to promote one of its best devices ever made, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E71, the Finnish giant will be rolling out a new campaign in the coming days. And while we’ve no clue when campaign will actually start, we’ve found few screenshots from a dedicated website, where users will be able to learn more about the full QWERTY keyboard-equipped smartphone and how to use it to improve their lives.

Apparently, the dedicated website will feature 4 short films from artists with their interpretations. Guess, the idea is to show potential buyers of the E71 what that device can do for them.

I said it before and I’m repeating it again – it’s the best Nokia smartphone ever released to date (I’m not counting the upcoming N97, though). Buy it, you won’t regret!
