The poor Nexus Q hasn’t been getting much love from Google lately, and may never get any going forward. We recently reported that it wouldn’t get any mention at Google I/O, and now it’s being denied the latest update to Google Play Music and its “All Access” music streaming services. Phandroid received confirmation from a Google liason named Paul that the Nexus Q would not be getting the upgrade:

Thanks for taking the time to report this issue. As you noticed, the latest version of Google Play Music isn’t compatible with the Nexus Q. The Nexus Q devices given to last year’s I/O attendees and provided free of charge to those who ordered are not compatible with the current version of Google Music.

To make matter worse, Q users who update Google Play Music on their phone lose the functionality they already have, leaving them with “broken” music streaming to their media orb.

Google Support recently added this single sentence to their page:

Please note that currently, All Access can be accessed through the Google Play Music mobile app or a desktop browser and is not compatible with Nexus Q.

While it doesn’t explicitly say the Q will never be getting All Access support, it’s not looking good. This may be the nail in the coffin for the Nexus Q. The purpose of the device was to stream media, so it’s omission from Google’s new streaming music service certainly doesn’t bode well. The Q has kind of been the ugly stepchild of the Nexus family since it was unveiled at last year’s Google I/O. While it’s been discontinued, there are several orbs out there with disappointed owners today.

A sparkly, white Nexus 4 model was spotted in the wild again. Yesterday’s sighting in the Philippines definitely got us excited. Now the elusive white device has shown up at a conference in Dubai and it was caught on video this time! It’s got a sort of opalescent, reflecting white back, but the front is still black (which is probably disappointing for some folks, but it still looks quite nice). Otherwise it appears to be the same as the current Nexus 4 specs wise, and it was running an older version of Android (4.2)

The display unit was spotted at the Qualcomm booth at a tech event in Dubai. With Google I/O starting tomorrow, the rumors are swirling about a revamped Nexus 4 (among other potential announcements), as well as the white option for Google’s flagship phone. Whether or not this white Nexus is announced at I/O, it should be available soon as more and more handsets are popping up in random places.

The standard, black Nexus 4 is a beautifully designed piece of tech and this shiny, white version looks like a worthy counterpart. While some of you were hoping for a fully white Nexus, I think the two-tone design looks pretty cool. The video’s only been on Youtube an hour or so and has already garnered over 300 views, so the excitement’s building for the new color.

What do you think about the Nexus 4′s new look? Let us know in the comments and check out the video below!

While we’re still no closer to official availability of the device, but the Nexus 4 in white has yet again popped up. We first caught a glimpse of the device back in late January, and not much has changed since then. Still, seeing the device dressed in white again gives us hope that we may see it on a wider scale one day.

One lucky person in the Philippines nabbed the white Nexus 4 from a buy and sell website, and that’s basically the whole story. While the appearance of the white Nexus 4 popping up again just days before Google I/O 2013 is certainly interesting, there’s still no indication that we’ll see such a device debut at the conference later this week. Still, with rumors of a 32GB/LTE version of the device swirling around, we’re not completely discounting the possibility.

At Google I/O 2012, attendees received a special edition white Nexus 7 tablet, so if there was a time that the search giant would unveil a new color option for the Nexus 4, it could just be days away. Nonetheless, at this moment in time, the owner of the device you see above is just lucky.

It did take a few months before the white Samsung Galaxy Nexus became available, so maybe we’re seeing a similar treatment with the Nexus 4. Maybe not.

Hit up the links below for more shots of the white Nexus 4.

LG has announced via their recent financial results call that it will be releasing a smartphone with a flexible OLED screen by the end of the year, according to The Wall Street Journal. The news was dropped by vice president of LG’s mobile division Yoon Bu-hyun, who claimed that his division was working closely with LG Display to make the flexible screened wonder a reality.

Of course, this probably wouldn’t be a completely flexible phone, as the flexible OLED display technology is still in its infancy, and other components such as the battery and processor are far from being flexible at this juncture. More likely than not LG’s flexible display will wrap around the unit, like some concept pictures we have seen of Samsung devices.

LG has definitely stepped up its game over the last year, releasing some awesome smartphones such as the Nexus 4, the LG Optimus G and Optimus G Pro, shipping 10.3 million of its handsets in Q1 of 2013. The only thing that could hold LG back, however is production of the OLED screens, which have plagued both LG and Samsung in the past with the manufacture of their OLED TVs.

Time will tell when LG’s flexible OLED screen dream becomes a reality, but either way it is an exciting prospect.

There may be a decent selection of Nexus 4 cases at this point, but there’s always room for more. So when I saw the GENx Hybrid Bumper Case for the Nexus 4, I knew I had to give it a go. While the official bumper case for the Nexus 4 does it’s job just fine, I’m personally a sucker for orange.. anything. With no other official color options to be found (in the Google Play Store, at least) this bumper case may be a good option for those who want a pop of color on your Nexus 4 bumper.

The GENx Hybrid Bumper is exactly what it looks like. It’s a bumper. The outer edges are done up in a bright orange, with a silver portion in the middle, much like the official bumper case. The back of the bumper is also finely textured, just to add a little more grip.

Once on the Nexus 4, you’ll likely notice that the sides don’t fit as snugly as some bumper cases, but it does seem like a non-issue with this case. When putting the bumper on the Nexus 4, the four corners need a nice amount of force to get the handset in, so I don’t see the potential of the case falling off at all. The volume rocker and power buttons work perfectly fine with the case on, so one also doesn’t need to worry about misalignment of the buttons.

There may be quite a few accessory options for the Nexus 4, but I really like this case a lot. It maintains the same footprint as the official case, but also offers up a nice pop of color.

If you aren’t as obsessed with orange as I am, you can also grab this bumper case in black, blue, green, pink, and white!

New Nexus 4 units have received a very slight tweak in their design: nubs.

Not only to these small nubs allow for better grip on flat surfaces, but also raise the unit slightly for a better speaker experience when the phone is on its back. Luckily, the nubs are very small and don’t take away from the overall design in any way.

I’m pretty happy to see this slight tweak, as the slickness of the Nexus 4 has prompted me to have the bumper permanently on at all times. The handset will slip of any surface if not placed perfectly, with possibly the one exception being the ultra-grippy Nexus 4 Qi wireless charger.

Another tweak in the new Nexus 4 units is around the camera, and it’s no longer flush to the back side of the device. The jury is still out as to why exactly this has been implemented, but we’d imagine it’s likely to keep scratches away from the lens.

There you go. Nexus 4 with nubs. The end.

T-Mobile customers holding onto a Nexus 4 are in for quite a treat. If you’re willing to work for it, that is. Yesterday, T-Mobile went live with 7 LTE markets in the US and thanks to some custom ROMs and older device radios, you too can hook your Nexus 4 to T-Mobile’s LTE network too.

The Android 4.2.2 update updated the radio in the Nexus 4, squashing T-Mobile LTE dreams, but not all hope is lost. Custom ROMs are here to help you out and give the Nexus 4 the LTE powers many have always wanted. And these aren’t just some random custom ROMs built specifically for this feature. We’re talking CyanogenMod and AOKP, arguably the best custom ROMs available that have quite the followings behind them.

With the combination of one of these custom ROMs and the older radio flashed, you’ll be cruising on T-Mobile’s new LTE network with ease. Of course, that’s to say you live in one of the few LTE markets T-Mobile currently has LTE in. Nonetheless, if your one wish was to have a LTE-enabled Nexus 4 in the US, you’ll have just that once T-Mobile rolls out its network into more markets!

That’s right, the bumper was spotted at a Videotron store in Montreal, Canada, sitting alongside the black bumper, just waiting to be plucked up.

While this doesn’t necessarily confirm the existence of a white Nexus 4, we’d say that it bodes well for the rumor. We loved the white LG Optimus G, and we’d also love to see the Nexus 4 get a similar treatment. Who knows, if there’s a white Nexus 4 to be had, maybe Google could announce such an offering a Google I/O, but we’d hope that it would be sooner than that.

Either way, with a small selection of decent accessories and cases for the Nexus 4, we certainly wouldn’t complain if the accessory became more broadly available. At the moment, the black nexus 4 bumper is the only color option in the Google Play Store.

Hell, why stop at black and white? We’re pretty sure that people would like to adorn their Nexus 4′s with a pop of color. Bring on blue, red, green bumpers, Google!

Hit up the link below for one more shot of the white bumper!

The Nexus 7 is still one of the best options available to one who is in the market for a 7 inch tablet. From the price to its horse power, the Nexus 7 hits all of the right spots, and now it’s become available yet another country.

The 7 incher has been available for almost a year now, and it’s widened availability is more than welcomed. Hopefully we’ll see an even more broad availability announced soon, as this is still one of the most powerful, yet affordable Android tablets available on the market.

South Korean markets will be treated to both 16GB and 32GB versions, with no official word on network supported variants as of yet.

Even if you’re not in Korea — is the Nexus 7 a viable tablet for you, or do you have eyes for another offering at this point?
