Warner Music Group: revenue from streaming services on the rise

Warner Music Group reported some great news for digital growth in the company’s October-to-December third quarter. Sony to release its Music Unlimited streaming service on iOS

Sony announced that its Music Unlimited streaming music service will finally make its way to iOS at some point this quarter. This streaming music app has been available for Android and PCs for a while now. The iOS version of the app will bring offline caching for subscribers to Sony’s service, allowing them to save playlists for listening when away from a network connection. Comcast rolls out AnyPlay, brings live streaming to the iPad

Today, Comcast announced its plan to roll out live streaming to all of its customers courtesy of its new AnyPlay service. The new service is currently limited to Xfinity HD Triple Play customers in Denver and Nashville, and more markets will be added in the coming months. UK music distributor pulling 200+ labels from Spotify, Rdio

U.K. music distributor STHoldings has decided to remove all of its distributed content from music services including Spotify, Simfy, Rdio and Napster, all of which have mobile counterparts. Streaming music services are taking a hit because the U.K. distributor believes the new business model isn’t helping the industry. Pandora CTO: Half of Americans don’t pay for music

Pandora CTO Tom Conrad unveiled an interesting tidbit that explained how half of Americans don’t pay for music. Conrad mentioned that his company plans to capitalize on this statistic by monetizing the vast majority of listeners who pay little or nothing per year for music, this was said today at GigaOm’s RoadMap conference in San Francisco.
