Siemens AG is Europe's largest engineering conglomerate with headquarters in Berlin, Munich, and Erlangen, Germany. In 2005, the Taiwanese company BenQ acquired the mobile phone subsidiary from Siemens and gained the exclusive right to use the Siemens trademark for 5 years. In 2006, the German unit filed for bankruptcy.
