Zain Group is a mobile telecommunications company founded as MTC or Mobile Telecommunications Company, and was later rebranded to Zain in 2007. The company has commercial presence in 25 countries across Africa and the Middle East. It has a commercial presence in the following countries of the Middle East: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon (as mtc touch), Palestine, and Sudan. As for Zain's African operations, they include networks in Burkina Faso, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Morocco. Additionally, Zain owns 31% of Wana Telecom in Morocco through a joint venture. At the moment, the company is selling its African businesses, excluding operations in Sudan and Morocco, to India's Bharti Airtel group.
