Designers of the popular space-based MMO, EVE Online, are thinking to go beyond the PC, to expand to other platforms such as consoles and mobile phones. We at IntoMobile.com don’t care much about consoles, hence it’s the second part we’ll discuss here.
In a recent interview to MTV Multiplayer, EVE Online’s lead designer said: “What we’re more interested in is augmenting EVE’s gameplay in the handheld space, like iPhone or Smartphone [applications] that let you check your skills or that sort of thing.”
Hear that? An iPhone app is in the queue, or at least that’s the way I read this. Now, this doesn’t mean the full blown desktop experience will be available on the iPhone. Rather I guess initially users will be able to check their stats, trade, and/or chat with other users to keeping up with events. That by itself is a good starting point, don’t you think?

Our friends from Discretix have recently announced that their CryptoCell security technology has been chosen to provide integrated protection for LG’s new LTE (Long Term Evolution) chipsets, to “ensure a trusted environment for the coming era of high-definition video and streaming, ultra-high speed downloads and much more.”
From the official release:
Discretix’ CryptoCell will provide a robust and far-reaching solution for LG Electronics’ LTE chipsets. As the world’s most widely deployed embedded security technology for mobile devices, CryptoCell offers an outstanding level of security while overcoming the challenges of performance, power consumption and silicon footprints. The flexible technology is designed to support the growth of DRM, device management, secure protocols and commerce, and can be deployed across a wide range of products and operating systems to meet changing market requirements for security.
Commenting on the announcement, Discretix’ Edo Ganot said: “Wireless mobile devices are obviously becoming a personal digital companion for watching movies, listening to music, browsing the Internet, connecting with friends and much more. The demands that are driving LTE development-higher bandwidth, faster downloads and uploads, and more content choices-also drive the need for a suitably advanced security environment. CryptoCell is one of the very few platforms that can support such rigorous specifications.”

We all know smartphones are the way of future. Still, we were kinda surprised to learn that within just 4 years (by 2013), they will account for almost a quarter (23%) of all new mobile phones. According to Juniper Research, the main driver behind this trend will be the proliferation of application stores that will make these devices better suited to individual users’ needs.
Undoubtedly Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s AppStore moved the industry in this direction, with 300 million applications being downloaded by iPhone users within five months of its launch. Apple’s offering was definitely not the first on the market, but its high visibility and ease of use has prompted players such as Nokia (NYSE: NOK), RIM, and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) also to jump into the applications market.

To follow up those fantastic images of the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Niagara 9630, there’s more BlackBerry goodness to go around this morning… In the form of the first real images of a BlackBerry 9900. In the past this device was known as ‘Pluto’ (for those following the Berry rumor mill).
The 9900 looks to be a Bold style device with a SurePress Touchscreen. It’ll pack 3G speeds, and most of the same ‘guts’ as the Bold, but you’ll notice one very notable difference… There’s no trackball on the device! This of course is due to the touchscreen interface on the 9900, but part of me is for some reason wishing that there will be a scrollwheel on the side of the device just like my trusty old BlackBerry 8700
Tired of the touchscreen? Use the scrollwheel!
Look for the BlackBerry 9900 by Q3 or Q4 of this year. Stay tuned for more on this new device from RIM.

Looks like my bud Kevin has been busy this morning with some awesome stuff for the Berry fans in the crowd. First off we have more BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Niagara 9630 photos! The new snaps are a little bit bigger and show more detail of the device. The first images had just a dash of ‘Mr. Blurrycam’ to them
Perhaps the most noticeable design feature from a purely aesthetic point of view is the battery door. Check it out with all of its carbon-fibre lookin’ goodness. I’m not sure if I’m actually sold on the look, but that’s a very personal choice for sure. Either way the BlackBerry Niagara 9630 is looking sweet. I can guarantee there will be more leaked pictures, specs and general madness surrounding the new 9630 in the days and weeks ahead… There always is.
Thanks Kevin!
More BlackBerry goodness to come…

International SIM card supplier, GeoSIM, announced that it’s about a launch the so called “dual IMSI,” a global SIM card with two mobile phone numbers that also comes with free incoming calls in the USA, and “significantly cheaper” outgoing calls.
The special version of GeoSIM will have a UK and USA mobile number assigned to it, and will come with such features as GPRS data, online back office functions, real time itemised call billing, global call forwarding and call recording.
As for the release date, GeoSIM said that the final arrangements are being put in place with the anticipated launch date to be early to mid April.
Finally before I let you go, here are the words from Managing Director of Geodesa Limited (distributor of GeoSIM), Ed Neal: “We are really excited about this ‘market shaking product’ which is generating a great deal of interest from customers and resellers already. In the past, travellers roaming on a US network have had to pay for incoming calls on their mobiles and paid higher charges for making calls. From mid April, all that will change when we roll out GeoSIM Dual IMSI. The USA will effectively become part of Europe in terms of the GeoSIM call rates and free incoming calls. GeoSIM customers will be able to call and receive at the current rates available in Europe or the US no matter which side of the Atlantic they are on.”

Just when we reported that Monopoly was launched for N-Gage, we’ve found out yet another solid title is available for the platform. It’s the brand new Prince of Persia, featuring cool 3D graphics and great animation of all the characters.
Here’s the official description:
The Prince is back in a new kind of adventure in full 3D where cooperation with the mysterious Elika will let you perform actions never before seen on a mobile device. Partnered with Elika, prepare for amazing acrobatics and fight gigantic monsters in 360° with a mix of magic and electrifying combat techniques! To save the world from a magical menace that has contaminated everything in its path, you must be ready for anything: ride a dragon, swing from precariously high ropes, and fight a multitude of enemies in gigantic 3D environments full of traps and secrets to discover.
Again, in order to see the game on you N-Gage client, you’ll need to update it first. Hop over to “Options” then “Update Now,” and you should see the Prince listed in the showroom.
One warning – we’re talking about a 24MB-heavy download here, hence I would suggest you grab the game while in a hotspot. That’s in case you’re not on an unlimited data plan, of course. Enjoy the game!

Again, like with other Cricket plans, interested users don’t have to sing any contracts in order to take advantage of the carrier’s unlimited Internet access offering. The service costs $35 per month for existing Cricket mobile phone customers and $40 per month as a standalone service.
The A600 is immediately available at most Cricket stores and dealers for $69.00 after mail-in rebate. More information about Cricket’s mobile broadband offering is available from this page on their website…

In General

The Irish government is considering proposals to add a one euro cent tax on SMS, a move that would raise additional 146 million EUR per year.
Not surprisingly, the industry trade body, the Irish Cellular Industry Association doesn’t like the idea. They said: “There is no logical reason why an additional tax should be imposed on text messages as opposed to any other product like cups of tea or coffee. The reality is that consumers already pay 21.5% VAT on all phone calls and text messages.”
Moreover, the problem is noted on how the tax would be raised as most tariffs include bundles of text messages.
Figures from the Mobile World show that Ireland ended last September with just under 5.2 million active phone accounts, representing a population penetration level of 124%!
