ZTE is launching its first own-branded tablet in the UK – Light Tab II V9A. The 7-inch device comes with a capacitive touchscreen of unknown resolution (we think it’s 1024×600 pixels), Qualcomm’s MSM8255 SoC (single-core), HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, VGA front-facing one, FM radio, 4GB of built-in memory, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show. All this is crammed into a relatively small packaging weighing just 402 grams, making it easy to carry around.
When it comes to availability, the press release says the tablet will be available for purchase “through a number of channels in the open market.” The price was not mentioned, though we’re pretty confident ZTE’s baby won’t cost a small fortune — quite the contrary, it looks like a mass-market device.
Finally, in case you wonder, ZTE Light tablets are already selling in more than 30 countries and regions around the world. The V9A in particular is currently available in Spain, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
