Gupp Technologies is a young company from Malaysia, that created a new, interesting Linux-based device. The so called “Phreedom” will be a BlackBerry-like smartphone that should come with very compelling features. Once available, the Phreedom will sport a 2.5″ QVGA (320×240) screen, integrated WLAN, full QWERTY keyboard. Furthermore this should be a “double tri-band” device, supporting both 850/1800/1900 MHz and 900/1800/1900 MHz networks.
Pricing information is still not available, but we know that the Phreedom will ship in Q2 2007, and will be distributed by 3P Electronics, a global electronics vendor and one of Gupp’s backers. (via: LinuxDevices)
