Alltel has released two new cell phones, the “Wafer” and the “Snap.” As the name might suggest, the “Wafer” is ridiculously thin – at 8.4 mm thick it’s a wafer indeed – and busts up any preconceived notions that CDMA phones are bulky and brick-like. The Samsung Wafer takes the cake as the slimmest Alltel offering and packs in Bluetooth, MP3 player, and a 1.3 megapixel camera into that anorexic body. So, if super-thin model-types are your thing, this is the CDMA phone for you, hit up Alltel for a new contract and get the Wafer for $70.
The Samsung Snap, Alltel newest lower-end phone, isn’t the snazziest of clamshells, but it gets the job done. Being lower on the totem pole means you only get regular old 1xRTT data transfer speeds, VGA shooter, and a monochrome external display, but for just $10 (after contract rebate, of course) you get what you pay for.
