Getting your wares onto shelves at a big-box retailer like Best Buy is quite an achievement – it signals that you’ve arrived. Where exactly, we’re not sure, but getting some dedicated shelf space (even if it is only virtual shelf space at the moment) is definitely a huge step for our Windows Mobile smartphone ODM-turned-global-manufacturer. As expected, HTC’s US-spec HTC Touch Diamond has been spotted on Best Buy’s online storefront, and it’s just a matter of
time before they start shipping these unlocked, US 3G-compatible, HTC Touch Diamonds from warehouses around the US. Of course, Sprint has the exclusive on the HTC Touch Diamond for another few weeks, so don’t expect to see the unlocked GSM HTC Touch Diamond shipping any sooner than mid-October.
Many of you will likely be well aware of what the HTC Touch Diamond has to offer, but for those of you that don’t keep track of this sort of stuff, the HTC Touch Diamond is basically the newest Windows Mobile-powered touchscreen smartphone from the largest Windows Mobile smartphone manufacturer that you’ve probably never heard of. The HTC Touch Diamond sports one of the first (and definitely the best) implementation of a full-VGA resolution touchscreen and the TouchFLO 3D UI that almost makes you forget that you’re using a Windows Mobile smartphone. Combined with a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, and full 3G (HSPA) connectivity, the HTC Touch Diamond represents a major step forward in the smartphone market.
And, now that Best Buy will be carrying the heralded HTC Touch Diamond with an unlocked, free-and-clear price-tag of $700, we can see the US mobile market hitting new highs. That is, until next year…
