Of late, a few Bluetooth headsets seem to have popped up that claim to offer superior distance coverage (and I would have to assume therefore call quality). Most seem to have a base (docking station) that come with them, and all seem to be extending the workable wireless coverage from 30-100m.
These accessories seem to be being suggested as the next step in the slightly shaky (at least previously it was) technology that we know as Bluetooth. Question is though, for all their wireless goodness, would you actually use one?
From the somewhat irrational concerns (if it’s more powerful, won’t it fry my brain), to the more realistic (how long does the charge last, what happens if I need to take a call when the battery has died), there are a number of potential objections to the technology – and obviously a whole host of good reasons too.
My experience of numberous BT headsets is that once I’ve taken a call on one, I sound disembodied, or as if there is interference on the line – at least according to the people calling me. This universal issue would have to be something that had been cleared up sufficiently in order for me to invest.
And then there is the cost – £100 or more for these sorts of headsets I think is a bit harsh – even when you know you are paying for the name! Having said that, there are manufacturers out there that charge even more outrageous amounts for their accessories – you know who you are 😉
But the question remains – would you have a super-power Bluetooth headset, or are you quite happy with the setup you have right now. Maybe you won’t even enter in to the route of Bluetooth headsets, and prefer something wired? Let us know, whether Bluetooth floats your boat, or doesn’t interest you at all.
