Mozilla’s mobile browser, Fennec, is moving right along and nailing their second alpha stage today. Nothing especially flashy in the new version (mostly performance improvements in panning, zooming and usability), but they do mention “new content manipulation hooks for extension authors”. Plug-ins were the biggest thing for Firefox, and plenty of folks are looking forward to the same customizability on mobile. Unfortunately, the testing for Alpha 2 is limited to the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, but keep heart – Windows Mobile progress is solid and Symbian’s getting started.
