Tokyo Gets WiMAXzillaed

All 23 wards of Tokyo face certain high-speed wireless convenience at the hands of the ruthless UQ Communications. Today, they have unleashed mobile WiMAX service to all customers willing to voluntarily submit to its sheer awesomeness, and although in time subscribers will have to shell out 4,480 yen (or $50 US) monthly for the privilege, it’s all free until the end of July while UQ runs through the soft launch (think of it as the baby aquatic dinosaur which will one day grow up to be big and strong). By planting its antennae-seeds at 44 train stations across metropolitain Tokyo, none will be able to escape its reach. By the end of June, WiMAXzilla will have wreaked havoc upon Nagoya and Osaka as well – anyone in those cities should prepare themselves with new WiMAX handsets and perishable food items.
