Time and time again Motorola pushes us to the negative end of the PR spectrum. Motorola’s presence in Hall 8 of the Fira Barcelona was sad, to say the least. Rather than concentrating on mobile hardware (a business that’s been nothing but a drag on Moto’s bottom line in recent quarters), the RAZR-maker came to Mobile World Congress to ostensibly show off the network infrastructure and network services side of their business. Motorola’s handset showcase was limited to just a few already-launched mobile phones. Worse yet, Moto had nothing to say introduce to the mobile world at the largest mobile conference in the world.
Word on the street has it that Motorola wasn’t even planning to bring their mobility business to Barcelona. But, some sort of last-minute jockeying within Motorola PR had the once-giant mobile phone maker scurrying to put up some sort of mobile display at the booth. Needless to say, we saw everything there was to see at CES Las Vegas 2009.
Still, we weren’t going to let Motorola’s lackluster MWC showing keep us from covering the show in as much detail as possible. Gallery follows!
