TouchFLO 3D ported to Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 !

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has garnered a good deal of attention over the past few months as one of the highest-end Windows Mobile smartphones on market. And, with Sony Ericsson’s Panel UI working hard to cover up the Windows Mobile nastiness that invariably plagues smartphones based on the Microsoft mobile operating system, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 differentiates itself from the WinMo fodder quite well. But, is that a good thing? Not if fans of HTC’s TouchFLO 3D have anything to say about it.

As good as the Sony Ericsson Panel UI is at sprucing up the XPERIA X1’s user interface, the HTC-made TouchFLO 3D UI is just light-years beyond anything the Swedish-Japanese cellphone maker could muster. That being said, XPERIA X1 owners have been waiting for the day when the HTC TouchFLO 3D UI could be ported to their previous XPERIA handsets.

You're XPERIA X1 could look like this too!

Like all good software ports in the Windows Mobile space, we have the enterprising code-monkeys over at xda-developers to thank for this latest Windows Mobile ROM that will endow your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 with all the TouchFLO 3D goodness you can handle. Forum moderator itje has posted the TouchFLO-toting XPERIA X1 ROM for all to use. Unfortunately, the ROM will only be made available in English.

Flashing the new XPERIA X1 ROM requires a bit of leg-work, so we suggest you read this entire thread before flipping the switch on TouchFLO 3D. As always, there is a significant risk whenever you flash your cellphone’s ROM, so make sure you’re fully charged, plugged in, and backed up before you do anything… anything!
