mSpot Offers Award-Winning Make-UR-Tones Application to U.S. Cellular Customers

mspot-logomSpot has announced that it will offer U.S. Cellular® customers access to the mSpot® Make-UR-Tones™ custom ringtone application. The award-winning application allows users to download, edit and purchase custom ringtones directly to their mobile devices. Make-UR-Tones will be a core offering on the new EVDO Network on U.S. Cellular, which has been a partner of mSpot’s since 2006.

The Make-UR-Tones™ application allows customers to select their custom ringtone from a catalog of over 400,000 song titles, one of the largest ringtone collections in North America and about ten times the catalog size of most other legal ringtone services. Songs include those from music labels EMI, Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony Music, Ingrooves and IRIS. mSpot.com also features lyrics, artist bios, recommendations, and more for mobile music fans.

To purchase custom ringtones, customers first select a favorite song from mSpot’s vast song collection, then employ the Make-UR-Tones intuitive editor to select up to 30 seconds of the user’s favorite part of the song. That edited cut can then be downloaded as a high-quality customized ringtone for $2.99.

That sure is a sweet application – I wouldn’t mind getting some of that custom ringtone action! I particularly like the fact you can edit tones, rather than having to stick to the standard edit that someone else has made – often they aren’t very good. Also, ringtones and the other ‘cash-cow’ mobile content types are rapidly heading towards maturity, a phase of the sales cycle where revenues start to drop off – anything that re-invigorates an already proven content type has to be a good thing!
