Looks like my bud Jake over at Nuclear Nova Software has been busy… And with good reason. The recent influx of new golf games (and mini golf games) to the App Store has meant stiff competition for his GL Golf title on the iPhone.
GL Golf still remains one of my favorites, and the ‘Lite’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Deluxe’ versions have all been updated with performance enhancements, new features, and a whole lot more. You can read about all of the changes in the press release after the jump.

In GL Golf up to four players can golf six unique courses. Everything in a real game of golf is included in GL Golf, such as water hazards, sand traps, trees, bushes, wind, four seasons, different times to play, and much more. Other unique features include game saving, three difficulty modes, mulligans, practice mode, as well as different sets of clubs.
Additional improvements for all versions of GL Golf include:
- New practice mode allows any level on any course to be played over and over again with infinite mulligans
- Added 3D blades of grass to the rough and fairway
- Added divots graphics from club hits and pitch marks from ball landing
- Night mode starts out light and gets darker each hole, morning starts out dark and gets lighter each hole
- Improved mini-map arc that matches the power meter
- New club handle textures to differentiate various wedges and putters
- The ball now occasionally skips over the water at glancing angles
- Anti-aliasing on the aiming triangle and wind triangle
- Added course name and difficulty to the best round page
- Fixed a bug where loaded games would not show wind direction
- Fixed a bug where the ball would be placed in the water after landing in a water hazard
- Fixed some graphical glitches when the ball is hit too far off the course
- Loading games no longer incorrectly load the wrong time of day or season
- Improved best round submission filter to remove certain symbols and words
- Improved the main menu (Live version only)
