I’ll let you in on a little secret. Nokia sent me a 6700 Classic to test. I’m not going to tell you what I think of it just yet, I plan on writing a review some time next weekend, but using it has made me fall in love with the T9 monoblock form factor all over again. It’s small, easily pocketable, it’s just so … awesome. That being said, using S40 is a bit weird. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fabulous OS, and some parts are even better than S60, but it’s marginally different than S60 and I know S60 like the back of my hand. Hypothetically speaking, if I wanted to buy the smallest, thinnest, most powerful, Symbian monoblock Nokia produces, I’d have to go with the E52. It is 116 x 49 x 9.9 mm, weighs 98 grams, has a 1500 (holy shit!) mAh battery, 600 MHz ARM 11 processor, 3.2 megapixel EDOF camera, 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS, WiFi, quadband GSM/EDGE, triband HSPA, and it is just beautiful (photo above, and more E52 photos, via Mobile Mania).
The camera is what I’m worried about. The Nokia E72 image samples that I posted before are absolutely stunning, so how does the E52 compare? Thanks to Mark Guim’s now infamous blog post about how to find pre release images on Flickr, I’ve managed to find 5 photo samples courtesy of “pieber” and I’m not impressed, but I’m not disappointed either; which is to say they’re pleasant. View them after the jump to see what I mean.
Both the E72 and E52 are scheduled to be released in Q3 of this year, with the E72 at 350 EUR ($495) before taxes, and the E52 at 245 EUR ($346) before taxes.
