UK: Modu 2 coming in 2010?

We’ve written a lot on Modu before (here and here for example), but news comes to us via GSM Arena that in fact the Modu 2 is due soon(-ish)…
For those of you that don’t remember the brand proposition so well (ooh, that’s *so* marketing!), the Modu came as a central core of a handset, which could be heavily personalised with a number ‘jackets’ – I say jackets rather than covers, as they appeared at least to be more substantial than previous offerings from other vendors.
However, the original Modu is said to have not been that well received, so the new one will be packing more goodies along the lines of touchscreen and HSDPA to sweeten the deal a bit. Quite how the jackets will work around the issue of touchscreen versus 0-9 keys versus a QWERTY keypad has yet to be seen – if that is, it’s even something they choose to address – I wonder with a touchscreen device about how much personalisation of the case there is to do, since it’s merely a wrapper for a large panel and the gubbins behind it. Time will tell.

However, the original Modu didn’t do major volumes apparently, so the new one will be packing more goodies along the lines of touchscreen and HSDPA to sweeten the deal a bit.
